I am so looking forward to summer…can’t get here fast enough! I’m already seeing sign ups for camps and activities hit my inbox, so I thought I’d share a great local gem in Burlington, WI if you are in the SE Wisconsin/far Northern IL suburbs.
Last year when we first moved, I signed up the boys for swim lessons at the Burlington Community Aquatic Center. Not only was this place immaculate (seriously, and we’ve been to several community pools in Lake County prior to this), but the prices were super reasonable and the boys actually made great progress with their lessons.
Swim lesson and swim club registration is now available on their website, You have the option of choosing morning sessions or evening sessions. Morning sessions run Monday through Thursday for two weeks. Evening sessions run Monday and Wednesday for four weeks. Classes are 30 or 40 minutes long, depending on level. You can do back-to-back lessons, or take a break for vacation or something, then come back for the next session.
Pricing wise, the lessons are very reasonable and there haven’t been price increases since their inception five years ago which is great. There are also discounts on the lessons if you buy a pool membership. Additionally, the lesson fees are reduced for the third or any subsequent children and/or classes! Plus, you can always buy a gift card to use on lessons, programs, membership, concessions, etc. (FYI…if you purchase a family membership by May 31, 2022, you get 4 free day passes!)
This facility is newly built and truly one of a kind with a zero-depth entry activity pool, current channel, waterslides, climbing wall and diving boards. Our boys took swim lessons there last summer, and we definitely plan to be back there again this summer. (I personally like the format of every day lessons– they really learn the skills versus the once a week lessons we had taken at other facilities in the past).
The instructors and life guards are top notch and very attentive/well-trained, the grounds are incredibly clean, and the pool, recreational areas/playgrounds and locker rooms are absolutely amazing. They have a nice concession stand too with a BIG variety and reasonable prices (the boys LOVE their slushies after swimming…the kiddos got free vouchers for them at the end of their lessons, such a cute touch.) Plus, they have tons of fun special events and activities all season long! You can even do birthday parties there.
And new this year, there are two new shade structures and a pool patio between the building and playground with concrete, a rope fence and outdoor lighting, among other things!
Totally worth it if you ask me, even if you live farther away (though they draw folks from Illinois and Milwaukee areas)– you can make a FULL day here with all they have. The pool opens June 4th, and the first session of lessons starts June 13th. Check them out or send this post to a friend that lives in the area. Trust me, it’s worth the trip!
Thanks to the Burlington Community Aquatic Center for collaborating on this post!
