Although summer doesn’t officially start until a little later on, I consider it to start Memorial Day weekend. Bryce is wrapping up his school year as a kindergartener, and Blake will be turning 3 this week, so I am looking forward to fully leaning into summer where I am focused on quality, memory-making time with these boys. We are going to create a summer bucket list, and I plan to reflect, pray and set goals for myself on being a patient parent, and enjoy the summer while still accomplishing the work and projects I have going on. It doesn’t mean a ‘perfect’ summer, just a simple one with time together, saying yes to fun and less structure, relaxed bedtimes, slower mornings, meals outside, afternoon popsicles, you name it. This post and posts I wrote here and here are great ideas I keep on hand for fun things to do.
I gifted my husband a Traeger smoker as a birthday/early Father’s Day gift, and we have been trying lots of great recipes, like these Scotch eggs which were SO tasty. I also have been working my way through one of Joanna Gaines’ cookbooks, and the recipes do not disappoint– like those Silo Cookies!
I recently hit 400 Peloton rides, and am quickly coming up on the Century Club milestone for their runs, too! About a month ago, I got into a new routine where I am doing workouts at 5:30 am. (With big help of friends/family doing group rides and runs together for accountability!) It’s been such a great change in my schedule and allows me to get it done and be dressed and ready for the day, have more patience and energy, etc.
I cannot stop wearing these sneakers from New Balance (see them styled in this post). They are so comfortable and sassy and fun! And let’s face it: rompers are basically pajamas that are acceptable to wear in public, and I’m totally here for it. This one I’m wearing is from Amazon and is true to size.
Like I mentioned earlier, we are looking forward to a slower summer and that includes slow mornings in our PJs. The boys just got new Dream Big pajamas from Pact,* which makes their clothing from organic cotton and uses Fair Trade certified manufacturing. They come in kids’ sizes 18 months through size 10 and are truly quality PJs compared to other kid/baby brands we’ve tried in the past, like Carter’s and even Hanna Andersson. They are soft, breathable, have a tagless label on the back to prevent discomfort and skin irritation and is prewashed and shrink resistant. The boys have worn theirs for several weeks now and they still look and feel like new! PS- You can save 20% on your first Pact purchase with promo code MomsMeet20 through 12/31/21.
