One of my favorite 5ks that I look forward to year after year is the Firecracker 5k in my hometown of Chesterton, Indiana. This year’s race promises to be just as good as year’s past!

Firecracker 5k, hosted by Franciscan Omni Health & Fitness
When: Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 7:30am
Where: Franciscan Omni Health & Fitness, 810 Michael Drive, Chesterton, IN
Cost through June 14th: $20 (includes apparel) or $15 (no apparel); Day of Race: $25 (includes apparel upon availability) or $20 (no apparel)
To register: fill out the form and the waiver and mail them to the address above or drop it off in person. You can register online here, but there is a $2.50 processing fee.
To receive a $2 discount, check off that you are a “member” and write “Style Files” on your registration form so they can track that I sent you! Discount valid until June 14th. You must mail in or drop off your entry & waiver to receive the discount.
What I like about the race:
1) super flat course through a scenic residential neighborhood…makes for a great PR!
2) Ample parking & well organized with lots of volunteers, making for a smoothly run event. Not terribly crowded either.
3) Awesome raffle prizes! There are tons of great prizes from past years that I remember, including from grocery store gifts cards to $150 for dining at the Blue Chip Casino (which my friend won a couple years back!)
4) The chance to meet a celebrity or two…yep, that’s Marci from the Biggest Loser! She is from Northwest Indiana and was on Biggest Loser: Season 11 and ran the race with her family- that was a nice surprise when I heard she was there one year!

Ahh! I love Chesterton! And I went to Valpo! So, I pretty much love everything about this post. I just wish I was free on the 22nd!
