I always have a blast when I run the Hero Half Marathon and 10k race at the gorgeous Indiana Dunes in Chesterton, IN. I’ve done it a few years now (including last year where I hit my PR and was 1st overall female, whaaat?!). Needless to say, this fun, scenic race is definitely on my race calendar for 2016. And for those of you in the Chicagoland area, I’ve got a sweet treat for you: I’m giving away one entry for the half marathon and one entry for the 10k!
Here’s the details:
Hero Half Marathon and 10k

Cost: $40 for 10k, $75 for half marathon
Includes: Cost includes a finisher medal, race shirt, bib & timing device, water & fruit and overall/age group awards
Register: Herohalf.com and use code HERO5 for $5 off either race!
This beautiful course is run along paved trails, roadways and a small portion of both races on a dirt trail. The views of the beach, dunes, and wetlands are awesome. I grew up a few minutes away from the Dunes, and I have to say that going for a run with this as the backdrop is picturesque! I remember many a runs and even soccer conditioning practices out there…good times! And you don’t have to dress up like a superhero, but it certainly doesn’t hurt right?
It’s a nice, smaller-ish race, beautiful scenery with a small amount of incline here and there to keep things interesting, and a fun post-race party including some food trucks. Plus, the beach as a backdrop for photos is kinda sweet. What’s not to love?
Sound like an race you want to try? Then enter to win a free entry! Please enter only if you can attend yourself. There are two Rafflecopter widgets to enter: one for the 10k and one for the half marathon. You can enter for both. Good luck!
See ya at the Dunes! Costumes and crazy poses highly encouraged (it totally makes you faster, right?)
With Erin. Her outfit is on point.

How Neat! I haven’t heard of this one and will be thrilled to run it if I win!
It’s a fun race for sure. Thanks for entering and good luck!
It looks like a fun race! It’s on my “next year” list :)
You’d enjoy it for sure! Definitely next year :-) Thanks for sharing!
Um, of course I want to win because I clearly rock this race! Seriously, though, it’s always one of my favorites.
Uh, absolutely…duh! And now I think we’ve set up a tradition for post-race breakfast too :-)
How exciting! I’ve never done a marathon, but I’ve always wanted to get into running. It would be okay to walk, right?
PS Awesome to meet another NW Indiana blogger! I’ll have to subscribe to your feed!
I loved this race!!! Would love to run it again as part of my MCM training!
Looks like really a fun race..;)
