Now that I’m officially a mommy, I’ve definitely changed my style to be a bit more functional and practical. Now, I opt for more flats so I can get around easier, even for spring and summer unless we are talking wedges. I love a good wedge because they are versatile- they function as a casual shoe and a dressier shoe. They pair with shorts, dresses, and everything in between and really help to elongate the legs. And best yet…they are comfortable and easy to walk in (even when carrying a baby!)
I received these Clemence cork wedge platform sandals in khaki green suede from a company called DUO. DUO is a British tailored footwear brand for women that love great design and customization. They have a wide array of boots, booties and other shoes available in 21 different calf sizes and 3 different widths and and the brand boasts a lasting quality and innovative personal service.
I sized up to a 10 Wide and they fit perfectly (although I think my feet are still a little swollen, and I’ve heard that your feet can go up in size after pregnancy. Crazy, right?!) Anyways, I love the crossover suede straps—they hold my feet in so I don’t have to worry about lifting my shoe off the ground like I would with a flip flop or similar shoe. There is also extra padding behind the buckle, which is huge because I often get blisters there. And although I haven’t left the house all that much with a now 2 week old to put these to the ultimate test, I have worn them around the house, moving around a LOT, and I must say, they are pretty comfortable- especially when carrying a baby. That’s the ultimate test, I’d say! Talk about a perfect spring wedge!
Can’t wait to wear these beauties more! I can see them working with with a coral dress or my olive cargo jacket, or even a plain white tee with shorts or jeans. The possibilities are endless!

Congratulations on your new arrival–so exciting! You look great in those DUO sandals. I’m amazed that you can walk around comfortably in them–the wedge is moderately high.

I was surprised too, Sabrina! But the platform aspect makes the wedge pretty comfortable. And the sole is very supportive- love them!
Those look really nice! Especially with your new camo pants :-)
Thanks– I was so excited to wear them post baby! They rise is a little higher than I typically wear, so I had to do the old hair tie trick to secure them until I get a little more time to lose the baby weight :-)
Wait, your feet can grow AFTER pregnancy?? And here I thought I have avoided that particular problem! Anyway, you look so amazing! Hope you guys are adjusting well to the new normal. I’m impatiently awaiting my son’s arrival any day now!
Yes, it’s true! My coworkers both said their feet went up an entire size after their pregnancies. Doesn’t happen to everyone, but it’s a possibility!
Thanks Andi– it’s definitely been an adjustment, but so worth it when we hold the little guy- melts my heart! Sending good thoughts your way for a safe delivery!
Those are super CUTE! I love the idea of extra padding around the heels. I get blisters there too. You are looking fantastic!
It makes a HUGE difference with that padding…wish all shoes had that! Thanks Laura :-)
I’m a big fan of wedges too–I wear them almost every day! I love this pair–the color is so unique! The one-week photo is adorable :)
Those wedges look so comfortable, Valerie! I would love to start wearing more wedges, but I’m such a weenie about having comfortable shoes, so I’m hesitant to purchase wedges in fears that they might make my feet hurt (or not have a wide enough base that would make me fall over, hahahaha). These look great, though! And I love the color (they look especially awesome with your camo pants) :)
I am a big weenie about comfortable shoes now that I have an infant to carry around…it’s all about making sure they are durable and supportive enough, and some of the cheaper shoes don’t hold up. Worth it to invest in one that fits your foot (especially if they offer wide styles so you feel you have enough of a base!) Good luck if you decide to try a pair of wedges out- I’m sure you could rock it without falling over!
