Now that it is officially September (and time for pumpkin flavored everything), it’s also time to transition into fall outfits! For me, that definitely means adding some layering! I consider my cargo jacket a closet staple and have remixed it several times:
One | Two | Three
Four | Five | Six
I’ve also styled it with a coral dress to make it a little more fall-like (LOVE the coral/olive color combo!)
Dress: J. Crew Factory (exact)
Shop the look! {Cargo Jackets}
Old Navy (current style…mine was from last season)
Kohl’s (and a cute vest version…I have this one!)
J. Crew
Gap (printed, plain)
What’s your favorite look?

I love seeing the neutral jacket with those bold colors!
Thanks! It’s such a versatile piece!
Nice remix! I have a cargo jacket a lot like this and I’ll be busting it out soon!
Thanks Inge- hope you got some inspiration for yours!
Great post Valerie. You definitely can’t go wrong with a cargo jacket. Love the different ways you styled it.

Thanks Agi- such a great closet staple :-)
That first outfit with the coral skirt is giving me some idea for my pink skirt!!
YES! (This was one of the skirts that I was thinking of using for inspiration for your pink skirt looks!)
Really like this look! I’ve been searching for just the right olive green jacket.
Thanks Emily! Hopefully one of the stores I linked to in the post has one that you like…at least it’s a start!
Yay for September! I am drinking a pumpkin spice library as I write this :)
Love that military jacket – I actually have been looking for one that’s similar. Maybe I’ll find one soon!
Mmmm pumpkin! And I love my jacket…and it’s stretchy so it’s super comfy! Good luck- hope you find a good one!
This is a very good and helpful post Valerie. Way to be creative with your military jacket and to inspire me, too. I definitely pinned this. I love it best with the Coral Dress and both Outfits with the Red Skirt because one color is warm and neutral and one is more bright and bold.
I am all about remixing my closet – that’s the purpose. As a matter of fact that is what I am doing all this month of April. Come take a peek into my 30/30 challenge. Thanks.
Glad you found it to be helpful Ada! I totally agree- coral and olive is one of my favorite combos!
