With my 30th birthday this past weekend, I scheduled myself a fix from Stitch Fix to treat myself! It’s so hard to go shopping with a baby, let alone with clothes- so this is the best way to do it! I really enjoy pinning specific Stitch Fix items on my Pinterest board, but also appreciate a fun surprise every now and then.
I asked for casual, classic pieces in plain colors and not too many patterns. No boxy tunics or sheer tops. Check out what I got!
Let’s get down to each piece with the October 2015 Stitch Fix Review!
Market & Sprice Corinna Striped Dolman Top ($48)
I had pinned this top in a couple different colors so glad that it came in my fix! I loved how neutral is was while the stripes gave it something a bit more than a standard shirt. The sleeves were just a little too tight for my liking though. Back it went!
Loveappella Orchird Henley Knit Top ($58)
This was one my stylist picked out. Really love the color, but hate the cut. Very clingy fabric, and definitely not worth the price tag in my opinion. When I saw I had a Loveappella item in my fix when it shipped, I was super excited because I love my Evie Drawstring Funnel Neck Sweatshirt (worn here), but this one? Not so much.
Market & Spruce Margerie Stripe & Dot Open Cardigan ($68)
I pinned this cardigan and we so pleased to get it and try it out! I love this because it has a gathered back, which makes it more structured than a regular cardigan, and it’s REVERSIBLE!
I really went back and forth on keeping this one, and in the end, I decided to send it back. Hope I won’t regret it! I just couldn’t figure out what other tops to pair it with besides white. The style card had it paired with a fuschia dress, but I don’t have that color in my closet. And the blue in the cardigan isn’t a true navy…it’s more of a purpleish-blue. Wish it was navy because it would have more remixing potential!
Brixon Ivy Lawley Cable Knit Open Cardigan ($68)
I had this cardigan pinned FOREVER and finally got it- success! Love the neutral gray (it comes in other colors like a caramel color- swoon!) Most open cardigans have the extra fabric that has the potential to lay weird across the chest, but this is knit into the sweater to double as pockets- so fun! This one was a keeper (and I’m wearing it now as I type this!) Very cute, cozy and warm!
Andrew Marc Kayseri Faux Leather Knit Moto Jacket ($88)
My stylist included this jacket after seeing a similar one on my Pinterest board. This jacket looks like a million bucks, but the price point is pretty reasonable! It has some give on the sides since it has knit material there, and the asymmetrical zipper and large lapels are perfection. It’s super flattering when zipped up and fits great, but I felt that it didn’t lay all that well on me when unzipped. Plus, since I am at home the majority of my days with a baby, this jacket wasn’t super practical for my current lifestyle.
So in the end, I feel like my stylist did a great job picking out some specific pieces I wanted, along with a few surprises that fit my style profile. Almost kept a few pieces this time, but decided to limit myself to one Stitch Fix piece…especially after this month’s clothing budget purchases…which you will see later this week.
What would you have kept?

I have the dolman (like the black and grey one) in blue and white that I got from Stitch Fix and I wear it alll of the time. I could see how the sleeves would be an annoyance though! At a desk all day it’s not a huge deal but lifting a little one would get annoying quick.
Blue and white sounds so pretty! Yeah those sleeves were really snug…could it really be that my biceps are getting bigger from lifting Bryce all the time?! Sheesh!
Need to follow your Stitch Fix Board!!! I kept 3 tops and scheduled another ALL tops fix for early December!!!
You should! Do you have one? They clearly did a great job if 3 of the 5 were keepers! Love that you can schedule fixes any time instead of every single month…much more excitement that way when they are spread out a bit.
I really like the striped top but I can understand about the sleeves being too tight.
Also, I REALLY want a moto jacket but I feel like they all lay weird when they’re open. Not sure what the solution is for that.
Yeah they were beyond snug…and such a bummer- it seems like this stop is a staple in many people’s fixes! Must be my bulging biceps from carrying little man around ha! There has to be something out there…I’m envisioning something where you can secure the open lapels back and even take in the sides with a inner drawstring or outer button so it gives you more of a waistline and flatters the figure a bit more.
So basically, I still think we’d be the greatest SF stylists around…
I agree with Erin about the moto jacket. I think you look fantastic in it zipped up, Val … but we all seem to not know how to wear it open. Does anybody have a solution out there???
Thanks so much Stephanie! Yeah, maybe I should just wear it zipped up…always. Problem solved! Or maybe there is a solution out there in the vast Internets…
I love both of the big cozy sweaters you got! They’re so perfect for winter.

I did too- so cute! I pinned a few others on my Pinterest board that I’m dying to get…might just have to schedule another fix!
You received some awesome pieces! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cardigan you kept and I really do like the leather jacket as well, but if you thought it looked off when unzipped, totally not worth it. I recently got a fix (yesterday) and after asking for non-wintery pieces because, well, I live in FL, I got a TON of long sleeve tops and sweaters. UGH. Thankfully I had credit so it isn’t $20 totally gone, but man was I disappointed. What can ya do? I’m hoping mine will be better when I get my next fix :)
Yeah…if I wore it zipped all the time I would have kept it, but I feel like I might wear it undone some days…oh well! And such a bummer that you got wintery stuff- boo! What a letdown…is anything worth keeping so your credit isn’t a total loss, like a cardigan for when the AC is super high? (There are always FB groups where you can sell Stitch Fix items if you change your mind!)
Love, love, love the cardigan! I would probably live in it. It looks so cozy and comfortable. This time of year is my favorite, the outdoors is perfect and wearing cozy sweaters and cute boots makes me happy.
Aren’t they great?! I was going back and forth on keeping both– such a tough choice! The gray one is super cozy and decently thick too- perfect for fall/winter! I totally agree with you on fall time– but winter?! Ehh, not so much :-)
I love the sweater! So interesting! I also love the color of the red Henley. I think they send everyone that dolman top and it’s so strange with the saggy armpits.
Isn’t it unique?! I love the color of the henley too, but not the fit so much. And the dolman looked so great on everyone else I’ve seen, but it just doesn’t do me any favors. I don’t get the cut, I suppose!
Burgundy is a pretty color on you! And I love the cozy look of the sweater you kept. It looks like it would be great for around the house or when you are out and about. I have a moto jacket I love and it doesn’t have an asymmetrical zipper. It helps when I want to wear it unzipped. Maybe one like that would work better for you? I wear mine all the time!
It is perfect for wearing around the house or out and about and it quite warm (I think it has a touch of wool in it without being too itchy..) And I think that’s the ticket…I love the asymmetrical look when it’s zipped, but maybe I should hunt for one that has regular lapels (which, come to think of it, was what I pinned originally for my stylist!)
