So needless to say, it’s been a little busy these past couple weeks! You know why?
Well….
I got a new job!
Yes, that’s right! After working in nonprofit marketing/communications for three years, I am headed to the corporate world! I’ve accepted an offer with a pharmaceutical company in the area and will be working in the Corporate Communications department. I am SO excited for this new chapter in my career!
I’ve been super busy wrapping things up at my old gig and am anxiously awaiting my start date. I’ve got a few days off before I start in September, so I hope to take some time to relax, recharge and do some shopping!
The corporate culture in terms of wardrobe is very different than a nonprofit. That said, I’ll definitely need to get a few pieces to “step it up” a bit in terms of professional attire. I know I’ll be able to remix a lot of what I already have, but I am making a list of key investment pieces or completer pieces that I know I’ll need, like blazers, nice shells/tops to go under them or to be worn alone, dress pants and close-toed heels. I definitely hope to document this transition on the blog as I go! Do you have any advice on how to achieve corporate chic style?!
As for the blog, I’m not sure how my schedule will be affected so I am really playing it by ear. I definitely plan to continue blogging, but maybe just less often with posts and comments, etc. I definitely plan to blog more of my outfits, but it might be a weekly or twice a week thing—we’ll see!
As always, THANK YOU for reading! I’m off to my second to last day of work and then our office is closing early for the staff to head to a local restaurant for drinks & appetizers in my honor…super sweet right?!

I am SO excited for your new gig! You worked so hard to get it! :) And I am excited to see how your outfits change too! :)
Thanks Kim– me too! Can’t wait to try out this “corporate chic” look! :-)
Love your outfit Valerie. Congrats on the new job!!!!!!! I think the importance of dressing in a corporate world is to keep things subtle with your jacket and pants/skirt and add some flair with the top and jewelry.
Thanks for linking up.

Thanks Agi! I think showing your “office flair”/style is definitely key with accessories or layering pieces and bright colors! We will see how my style evolves/changes as I make the transition!
Yay! So excited for you! Can’t wait for your corporate chic outfits!
Thank you so much Katie! I can’t wait either- woo hoo!
Congrats on the new job! I think that a little bit of structure (in a blazer, dress pants, pencil skirts) goes a long way in making an oufit look more professional. I like your color combination today, I just might use it for future inspiration!
Thank you Inge- so sweet! I totally agree on the structured pieces adding some professionalism to an outfit. Hope you found some ideas for trying out navy/fuschia in your outfits too! :-)
Wow! Congratulations!! That is super exciting :) I can’t wait to hear how it all goes.
Thanks Bri!! I plan to blog about the transition as much as time permits! Should be very exciting and I am VERY much looking forward to the change in the office culture!
Well, I happen to know a blogger who blogs about corporate chic style… :-)
Congrats on your new job!! I hope it’s everything you dream it will be!
How perfect is that?! Schweeeeeet!
Thanks Erin- I appreciate it! :-)
Congrats on the job, so exciting! Love the color combo today, I have worn a similar look in the last and am excited to do it again once it cools down a bit :)
Ginny
Thanks Ginny! Yeah I love those colors too- perfect for fall!
Yay! Congratulations on your new job, Valerie! I’m excited to see what’s in store for you and how your wardrobe will change as a result :)
Thank you Brynn~! You and I both! :-)
