Mom Style #34 // Fall Fashion Basics

What clothing items scream fall to me? Scarves, booties and definitely vests. I saw this black and ivory plaid print vest over a long weekend at Wisconsin Dells (recap coming this week!) and was immediately drawn to it. It’s a great layering piece, and the colors go well with my new pared down wardrobe in neutral tones. And under $20? Thanks, Old Navy!

I paired it with my absolutely favorite jeans from Madewell.  In fact, I got this pair off Poshmark after realizing that the high-riser style wasn’t really for me. The skinny jeans have a lower rise and fit my silhouette so much better. These jeans hold their shape for days too…love it.

And for anyone pursuing a pared down wardrobe with chic, minimalist items that are mom-friendly, you’ll need a basic black top. This top from Tapered Collection checks off those things. They make everyday basics with flattering silhouettes in the good ‘ol USA with quality Supima cotton and the pieces are pre-shrunk and garment-dyed, meaning no shrinking or fading (the worst when that happens, right?!)  They offer the classics: short sleeve tees, long sleeve tees and dresses <—which I’d love to add to my closet next. This top is cut slimmer at the bottom and looser at the top. I’ve tried this cut in a couple tops that have appeared in Wantable or Stitch Fix boxes and they just didn’t work, but something about this top fits so well!  A perfect fall (and year round) basic.

PS- Happy Halloween! We will be trick or treating in our neighborhood, and I’ll be resisting the urge to eat all that leftover candy for weeks to come. #thestruggleisreal
