We just spent a long weekend in Madison, Wisconsin for some quality family time. T’s family lives there, and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Our trip included a great dueling pianos event at Wisconsin Brewing Company, a visit to the (free!) Henry Vilas Zoo that Bryce loved, a trip to the Madison Children’s Museum, an amazing brunch at Cafe Hollander along with some window shopping at Hilldale Shopping Center (which may or may not have included a Pure Barre class… #addicted).
While we were at the Children’s Museum downtown, we stopped at the beautiful Madison Capitol and snapped these pictures. I packed a lot of neutrals and basics and just mix and matched them for the 4 days we were there. Easy schmeasy. Case in point: my new favorite v-neck tee from Madewell, along with my go-to skort from Athleta. Both of these pieces=perfection. Comfortable, breathable, functional and remixable. What’s not to love?
What do you enjoy doing in Madison? Favorite pieces to pack for a long weekend/road trip?

That sounds like such a fun weekend! We’ve talked about checking out the Children’s Museum in Indy, I hear that there are so many great different ones within a few hours. Did Bryce have fun at the Madison one?
It really was! I bet Indy would be fantastic. Bryce enjoyed it, but I honestly, I think he would enjoy it if he were a little bit older. At 15 months old, he’s not steady going up or down stairs or climbing, and I feel like there was a lot of that there. But I bet your little guy would LOVE it!
That is good to know! We’ll have to add that to our list sometime. It’s only going to get more and more adventurous as he grows!
I love the simple chic look! The basics are indeed the best!

That sounds like a fun family trip! I’ve never been to Madison but I’ll keep your stops in mind if we ever visit. Love this cute summer look, especially that necklace!
The necklace helps elevate it from totally basic for sure. Madison is a great town, highly recommend!
