Navy and olive are a combination I haven’t really reached for…until now. After being spoiled with unseasonably warm weather in Chicagoland, we were snapped back into reality with some temps in the 20s and 30s and that made me reach for my darker, winter-like color palette. I wore my Old Navy mid-rise sateen rockstar pants that I got last year (I own a pair in burgundy too, see here) along with this peplum-ish navy top to church. I added my handmade tassel necklace, which had similar colors to tie it into the pants and booties. It’s funny, because that week at work, I noticed literally 3 people (guys & gals) all wearing some version of navy and olive. Too funny.
And since I’m working on really working my closet these days, I wore it again to work, but swapped out the pants for my dress pants from The Limited with nude heels. The monochromatic look really worked in my opinion, especially with the ruffle, which seemed to give the outfit some dimension. (Note to self: take a photo next time.) Come to think of it, the last time I did a monochromatic look it was black and again, I like how the outfit turned out.
Does the “twinsie effect” ever happen to you with coworkers, friends, etc? And what colors have you worn in a monochromatic look? I’ll need to give it a try!

This outfit is like my everyday mom uniform!! I love it! Comfortable and still cute. I’m also loving the navy and olive combo!

Thanks Brooke- I love the feminine ruffle to an otherwise more “masculine” color pairing!
I love how your necklace matches the pants.
