For those who have asked me for more recipes, meal prep, menus and general healthy living tips—this one’s for you!
After being in a meal plan rut, I have I’ve been looking for something that allows me to cook/prep meals my entire family will enjoy. Plus, I wanted something that was high on whole foods, and low on sugar, processed foods, flour, etc. and hard-to-get ingredients so I could maximize our grocery budget. And ideally, I was looking for something to take away the stress and monotony or menu planning each week.
The game changer? Clean Simple Eats.
For the past two months, I’ve been using the Clean Simple Eats meal plans through their app. And I have to say, I am really loving it! I love how their meal plans fit easily into my everyday life.
But first, a bit more about CSE:
Husband and wife duo JJ & Erica started Clean Simple Eats to help others live a healthy lifestyle. Their goal in creating their meal plans is to help you build healthy habits that will last a lifetime since they are sustainable, enjoyable, satisfying and fun. They release four meal plans, one for each season…and have recently added plant-based plans too! The food is SO good, family friendly for all, and conducive to “real life” when you have a meal when you grab a fast food lunch or eat out (they have resources to help with that too, by the way.)
The use their expertise as nutrition specialists and fitness enthusiasts to balance each recipe with just the right amount of protein, fat and carbs to keep your body fueled and satisfied while still burning unwanted fat. They sell hard copies of their meal plans, as well as an app.
Plus, they have a line of protein powders, nut butters and other items you can buy online (or at some stores depending on where you are located) as well as a great “Workout Wednesday” series where they are both leading you through a challenging workout. Lastly, they also have challenges where you submit before and after photos to win great prizes. (Oh, and did I mention they have 4 kids too?!) What a duo!
I’ve been using their app for a couple months now after using their hard copy meal plans and have slowly been getting used to it since I used to be an old school recipe follower from a printed version or a cookbook. But I must say, the app is SUPER user friendly and visually beautiful too. They have it available for a monthly fee or a bit cheaper if you pay for a full year of access.
The Clean Simple Eats App allows you to input your gender, age, height, weight, and activity level so you know how many calories you should eat every day to meet your health goals.
Here’s a few things I love about the app:
1- You get access to all the meal plans. Each meal plan on its own is $55, so this is amazing that you get access to so many great recipes. You can easily search by meal plan book or ingredient to find what you like. While their hard copy meal plans are awesome (we used it for a couple weeks before moving to the digital app), I love the flexibility of adding/subtracting meals based on what we have going on in a particular week and the app automatically updates everything for you.
2- The app is essentially a menu planner for the week that calculates your calories and macros for meals (just for you individually, fyi.)
3- It’s sustainable! They set up their meal plans that you can double or triple the dinner recipe and use the leftovers for lunch the next day. Similar with breakfast, they offer an easy breakfast during weekdays and two fresh ideas on weekends, when you typically have a bit more time to prepare it. The meal plans also include fast food and dine out meals and have great resources to help with food choices. We followed the hard copy meal plan for a couple weeks and picked up these tips, which made it really easy to stick to and made for SO much less food prep when you plan things out strategically!
4- Customized grocery lists are DONE for you. Based on the amount of servings you choose for each meal and snacks and treats, the grocery list automatically adjust. You can also add one-off items you need to your grocery list so it’s all in one spot. This might be my favorite part yet.
5- You also get access to their weekly Workout Wednesday series, which is a super workout! They have several available, and add workouts each week.
6- The recipes themselves are easy, filling and family friendly. We have truly loved nearly every recipe we’ve tried thus far. In fact, Bryce asked for Butternut Squash & Sausage Risotto leftovers to take for school lunch, which was a first for us!
I love how Clean Simple eats makes clean eating simple and satisfying. It’s not a restrictive, quick fix plan. It is a tool you can use to improve your health for the rest of your life and it well worth the money if you ask me. One other tip/tool I’ve been using lately when it comes to food that I had to share…
The CSE food is so flavorful, and in large part due to using some great seasonings and spices. I recently got a set of seasonings and spices from Enspice and LOVE what they are about.
Their products are enhanced with 21 plant-based vitamins and minerals, which is such a unique offering compared to other spices out there.
The kit has taco seasononing, cape cod (for seafood), chipotle bbq, black papper, seasoned salt and cinnamon. Plus, they are just so fun and bright! (I had to channel my inner Home Edit and organize by color, obviously.)
What’s amazing is that just one teaspoon of Enspice has 50% of your FDA daily values! The collection of spices retails for around ten dollars and the best part? Each purchase donates a meal for a child since their mission as a public benefit corporation is to combat childhood malnutrition around the world. Tasty, nutritious, plant-based and good for you (and others!) I’ll definitely be stocking up on these spices again when I run low.
You can purchase these at Enspice.com. And get 10% off enspice seasonings & spices with code MOMSMEET thru 12/30/20!
