Mindfulness. It’s something I try to practice as much as I can in terms of using my time in an intentional way- from parenting, to self care, to scheduling/how we spend our time, meals…the list goes on. Today, I’m sharing a few favorite finds that I’ve been loving lately that help me practice this…and bonus: they are all from fellow Moms!
On motherhood/parenting:
Simple Happy Parenting. I have been following Denaye’s Simple Families podcast for a while now, and love her approach on parenting and minimalism. She recently came out with her first book, and it’s SO good. She offers a mindful approach to family life with practical steps to help you tackle what can feel like an overload of modern family life and create time to simply enjoy living and learning together.
On self care:
Kiava Clothing. For me, self care comes in the form of getting a good workout in every day. Think about it: you have to take care of yourself in order to take care of others around you. My kiddos see me workout everyday, and I hope they learn the value of moving their bodies for overall health and practicing dedication/discipline, among other things. I try to be mindful of my workouts, and fit them in when I can. I recently discovered Kiava Clothing, and love their products. They are super cute and very functional. Their Endurance Sports Bra is hands down my favorite bra– high impact AND gorgeous! I love supporting fellow mother-run businesses like this one. All her items are designed so well, and she does a great job sharing fit/sizing info on IG stories.
On scheduling/how we spend our time:
Simplified Planner by Emily Ley. I have used this planner for a few years now and love it. I literally use it every day, and use it for all.the.things- from work commitments/projects to blogging deadlines to our daily day to day activities and my housekeeping routines. The design is beautiful and simple, and Emily Ley offers great resources on how to live intentionally and use her planners. I use the weekly version and am in the process of filling out my new navy floral planner which starts in August!
On mindfulness with kids:
Zafooz. Zafooz aims to help young people learn to connect and nurture themselves through daily mindfulness practices. All zafooz designs have sweet, peaceful faces to remind children that is is safe to slow down. In today’s crazy, tech-obsessed, screen-time driven lives, it’s important to encourage our children to sit and simply be mindful, which also helps develop needed social and emotional skills. The zafooz cushions/breathing buddies are a fun way to help improve brain function and provide relief during stressful times. Kids face a wide range of emotions, especially when they are frustrated or overtired. Bryce and I tried some of the guided meditations on their website and with some practice, I think it will really help him take a quiet moment to simply slow down and reset when he needs it most (along with a big hug from Mama, of course!) He certainly loves snuggling with them, and the size is perfect for him to really wrap his arms around.
