August 24, 2014 marks the 4th annual Fort2Base race. It’s a rare opportunity for civilians to get a peek at Illinois’ military command and training centers and beautiful vistas of the North Shore.
Participants have a choice of two race distances: 10 nautical miles (11.5 miles), which begins at historic Fort Sheridan and end at Naval Station Great Lakes via the spectacular Green Bay Trail. I did this race last year and really enjoyed it! The second course is 3 nautical miles (3.45 miles) within the private expanses of Naval Station Great Lakes.
So sign up for Fort2Base here and use Fort2Base discount code 2014F2BPETERSEN10 for 10% off either race distance!
And to kick off your training, join me and a few other race ambassadors for a fun run at one of Lake County’s beautiful trails!
When: Saturday, June 28th at 8am
Where: Hastings Lake Forest Preserve, Lake Villa
What: Fun run (we plan to do 4 miles, 2 mile loop twice through…there is also a 1 mile extension if you want to add some additional miles)
