Almost five years ago I would never have believed the shift my life has taken since becoming a mom. Every decision in my life is now a reflection of my kiddos and their well being. That can include anything from grocery shopping & planning out meals each week, staying up to date on doctors appointments and activities, getting our furnace/AC in order, making sure their clothes are clean and just generally doing my best to make sure they feel safe, healthy and happy.
On that front, I recently started using essential oils after reading about their clean, natural abilities to do wonders for your home and health. We have also switched out the majority of our cleaning supplies for non-toxic products and I’ve truly learned the importance of filling our home with products that promote natural wellness.
How We Use Essential Oils in Our Home
We love to diffuse essential oils in our living areas, bathroom and in the boys’ rooms. It especially helps in Blake’s room to keep the diaper pail smell away (I even put a few drops in the pail directly!) or the drain in my kitchen sink to clean out/neutralize any odor, and put a few drops in my vinegar/water cleaning solution that I use when I steam our floors. The smell is so wonderful, and 100% natural which I prefer over that artificial smell that chemically-laden cleaning products have.
There are also great blends that you can use on skin (though each oil is different and caution should be used with kids). I’m still learning about roller blends but I’m excited to experiment with them more!
Beyond that, there are TONS more uses for essential oils- from using in candles to sprays to rubs, using in DIY soaps, bath bombs/soaks, lip balms, sanitizers, cleaners & salves…you name it!
How To Get Your Own Essential Oils
I have been using essential oils from a Wisconsin-based company called Simply Earth. They offers all kinds of 100% pure (no dilution!) essential oils, along with accessories and blends. There are no middlemen, MLMs or upcharges. Their oils are sourced from the best farms around the world, GC/MS tested, and backed by their Simply Pure Promise. Plus, they share 13% of their profits to organizations who help end human trafficking.
But what I really like is their Essential Oil Recipe Box. It’s a monthly box where get everything you need to make your home natural, including easy and fun recipes to follow, honest prices, and products that work. You can read all my reviews on them here.
It includes:
4 Essential Oils | Natural Ingredients | + Fun Extras
$150 value for only $39/month
For example, this is the March Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box. It’s all about mood support. I love all their recipes– helps me find fun new ways to use the oils that I never would have thought of (plus the supplies are included- can’t beat that!)
The other neat thing is that new box subscribers get a FREE Big Bonus Box your first month. It is valued at over $40, and has everything you need to make the recipes for the next six months.
- Almond Oil
- Fractionated Coconut Oil
- Solid Coconut Oil
- Beeswax (for balms and lotions)
- 6 10mL Roll On Bottles (for roll-on recipes)
- 6 5mL Blend Bottles (for diffuser blend recipes)
So for under forty bucks, you get a themed box with four full sized oils and recipes/extras AND a bonus box to make all kinds of things delivered straight to your home (with free shipping). Totally worth it for a toxic free home in my opinion!
Use code STYLEFILESFREE to shop at Simply Earth to get a FREE $40 gift card with your first Essential Oil box AND a bonus box, which has everything you need to make the recipes for the next six months.
You can use the $40 gift card on a future purchase (like a diffuser or oils) OR on your next box. This is a subscription box worth trying, especially if you are new to essential oils. You can cancel at anytime too. So for $39, you get an Essential Oil Recipe Box, Bonus Box AND $40 gift card. That’s a no brainer!
