Debate and beatboxing. Yep, that pretty much sums up my weekend!
After work on Friday, I headed towards Chicago to judge at a debate tournament. This was the District tournament, so the top three teams in each debate event–Congress, Policy or Public Forum–will qualify to go to the National Tournament in Alabama. (Call me a nerd, but I love judging at tournaments…reminds me of my HS debate days! These kids are seriously talented! Although some of them could use a little instruction on what is appropriate professional wear, but I digress…)
After debate, I came home pretty feeling exhausted. I watched some Duck Dynasty with my hubby (SUPER funny, by the way) then went to bed only to get up and head back for day two of the debate tournament!
Day two went by pretty fast and my husband joined me for it. We ended up finishing early so we checked out a few stores, where I found this little gem:
Sunday also proved to be another busy day filled with a workout, church and checking out the new Aldi for grocery shopping. Then, we headed to Milwaukee to see the amazing a capella group from NBC’s The Sing Off- Pentatonix!
They are SO dang good. I loved the performance…except for our ridiculously high seats. It doesn’t help that I have a huge fear of heights. I think I experienced my first legit anxiety attack as a result of those damn seats.
Needless to say, even my husband was feeling a little woozy (and I was beyond freaking out by that point) so we decided to leave a little early. Good life decision in the end. We stayed just long enough to see Kevin perform Julie-O on his cello while beatboxing, which is one of my all time favorite songs. SO incredible! Pentatonix also performed Thrift Shop as well as some of their other popular covers. I’m blown away by what these 5 can do with just their voices! Amazeballs.
Hope you had a great weekend and a lovely Monday!
