I can’t believe it. I finally got around to taking photos for an outfit post! WOO HOO! Don’t get me wrong- I love wearing workout clothes all day, but sometimes I just want to get dressed up!
Case in point: I got this lovely dress from Brooke at Pumps and Pushups, a store with the cutest tops, bottoms, dresses and accessories. (Sidenote: you have to check out their blog: Pumps and Pushups—it’s all about wellness and style and is run by three health pros (including Brooke!) that share fashion, fitness, nutrition and health articles.)
Anyways, I knew this red shift dress would be really versatile for anything from day to date night so I styled two looks for these occasions. Plus, you can’t beat that bold, vibrant red! FYI- the dress is fully lined and machine washable. As a size reference, I am 5’5” and ordered a large and it fit well—just a little tight in the chest area…I blame it on nursing ;-) It’s also cut a little shorter so if you are wearing it by itself and/or belting it, be careful! Otherwise, this would look cute with black leggings in the fall/winter!
The first look is a casual outfit with a jean jacket (in honor of Bri’s Third Thursday Threads), and cognac flats and belt. Relaxed and fun!
The second look is for more of a date night or girls night out. I went with just the shift dress and a black statement necklace and my spunky black cutout lace up wedges. I love these shoes. They are so sassy!
Shop the look:

Love that dress on you–such a fun color!
Thanks Kelsey! Can’t go wrong with a classic shift dress!
Red is my favorite color and I love a red dress the most – especially for date night. I think a denim jacket looks great almost oer any dress, though I slightly like the date night look a little more. The dress is such a bold piece on its own that it shines.
If you like, welcome by and see oer 20 ways I have styled/worn my denim jacket. Thanks. Hope you three are doing well, especially your little man.
Have a great weekend, Valerie!
Ada. =)
Thank you so much Ada! The date night look is such a fun one, and I think the shoes add to the boldness quite well- so fun!
My jean jacket is from Old Navy too–it’s perfect! I love shift dresses, and this color is so fun! Those black wedges are super sassy! I love them!
It’s great right?! And perfect for the budget! (And I think every girl needs a good pair of “sassy” shoes!)
I’m such a huge fan of these classic shift dresses. I love how easily they transition from dressy to casual. This one is a stunner!

Thanks Alecz! Shift dresses are definitely timeless.
I have that same dress and love it! It looks great with a denim jacket!
Thanks Laura! I loved your look with the leopard print- I’ll have to replicate that next time ;-)
i LOVE that tassel necklace with the awesome stone. So simple but a big statement anyway! Definitely a great way to go from day to night in this :) Thanks for linking up!!
That was a knockoff Kendra Scott necklace- I’m such a fan of pendant necklaces– draws your eyes down a bit instead of neckline statement necklaces…something different :-)
