Next weight/height checkup is at 9 months…can’t wait!
Diaper: size 3
Clothes: 9 months, although some pants are a little long/loose, but tops/onesies are good at 9 months right now
Eating:
New foods: acorn squash (like!), bananas (like!), apples (love!), avocado (love!), pears (love!), mixes of various veggies that I’ve frozen from past things we’ve tried, jarred baby food
Bottles: still eating 4x a day, each bottle ranging from 7-8 ounces. Mostly formula at this point since my supply is dwindling and I’m pumping 3x day.
Sleeping:
-At the start of this month we had a bit of a sleep regression where he was easily startled or would suddenly get wide awake when we laid him in his crib after he was sound asleep while holding him, and he’d be quite upset and hard to get back to sleep…and once we’d put him in his crib again he’d get upset all over again. Thought it was anything from separation anxiety to reactions to new foods to sleep regression? The pediatrician seems to think it’s due to teething (the throbbing of teething sensation apparently intensifies when horizontal). They suggested using Tylenol occasionally and sleep training (let him cry it out before getting him for longer amounts of time)…so tough on all of us :-( However, at the end of this month, things have gotten better. He seems to self-soothe a bit more and prefers sleep on his side or belly. He’ll roll over from back to tummy to sleep and wiggle all around his crib…it’s funny to track his movement on the monitor!
-Naps are a little quirky. Generally two a day, but they vary in terms of time. Morning naps are short, afternoon naps range in terms of when and how long.
The Highlights:
-Bryce counted his fingers (ha!) or at least demonstrating some serious dexterity point and touching each fingers of his one by one…so cool.
-He pulled himself up to stand in the tub last month, but did it off his toys on Thanksgiving for all the family to see- it was awesome! Nowadays, just needs a little leverage or something to hold on to for support (a toy, me, the ottoman, the side of the bathtub) and he pulls up to standing! He LOVES it and prefers standing to anything else. I’m convinced he will skip crawling altogether at the rate he is going…he is already scooting on his butt everywhere!
-Generally super active and moving all the time! Reaching/grabbing for everything too. Guess that means we need to babyproof soon!
-2 bottom front teeth are out now, out loud and proud! So cute when he smiles…
-Very chatty– likes to replicate the sounds you make- like grunting or ooo’s or aah’s or little shrieks, it’s fun to “have a conversation” back and forth, and he currently loves blowing raspberries…nonstop.
-Very curious mind…you can see when he is intensely concentrating and trying to figure out a toy, or pull apart the foam puzzle play flooring and see what’s underneath.
-Loves when I sing and dance with him– lately to Christmas music, touching his toes and putting them in his mouth
-Not a fan of getting dressed in his onesie sleeepers at nighttime
-Definitely responds to his name and clearly recognizes it, and is starting to get the hang of getting dressed- he pushes his arms through the sleeves now, which makes things a lot easier on Mama!

Yay for Baby Bryce!!! How is mommy working from home going?
I want to hear more about the transition too. :)
It has been going really well! Each day got a little better (and it will never be perfect- there are those tough days), but in general, I am really loving our arrangement. Love that I can come upstairs to play/snuggle for a few minutes during lunch, when I grab a bathroom break, etc. And I feel like me more than ever now that I am working in a career that I enjoy. You will make it work too- I know it! When do you go back?
Thanks Lauren! Working from home is going SO well. Granted, it’s definitely a transition and we are still working out the kinks but it is SO nice to be able to come upstairs and play with him for a few minutes when I take a bathroom break, grab lunch, etc. And the gig is pretty great too- love my role there and am excited to be back at it!
Love the update! Glad sleeping is going better!
Yay! :-) I am so glad too…but other Mommy friends say there will be those blips for the next few years haha. I’m in for the long haul– I’m just used to a lot less sleep in general, never thought I would be. Go figure! Merry Christmas and see you soon Kelly!
