August 2016 Clothing Budget
- Zella Live In Leggings: $16
These leggings are legit. I dubbed them one of my best purchases of 2015, and it still holds true. They are regularly $52, and I got them cheaper because of Nsale, 6% cash back with Ebates, and a $20 Nordstrom note. WIN. - White Cami & Nude V-Neck Cami: $7 total
Basics that I wear for layering, especially with sheer tops. I needed to replace the ones I had…they were too big, worn out and ready to go. - Denim shorts: $12 after BR rewards certificate
I love the fit of these over the pair I purchased earlier this summer. I ended up removing the stitching so I could either roll it down the whole way or do a single roll, etc. - V-Neck Peplum Tank Top: $0 after BR rewards certificate
I spotted this top on the rack and knew I had to have it. It works well dress up with a blazer (which I did at work), and on it’s own white white jeans for a date night! - High Rise Compression Crops: $8.78 after 30% off sale + 4% back with Splender + cardholder promo
What can I say, I’m a sucker for workout items. I wear them all the time when I’m not in the office, and I’ve been crushing on this print for a while, but waited for a sweet sale. Can’t beat that price! - Lace Up Gladiator Sandals: $19.18 after 4% back with Splender + cardholder promo
I bought the cognac version back in June, and have worn them a ton. I had a pair of black sandals that slips off my foot, so I figured I might as well get a pair that I know fits well! And I’ve discovered that I can loop them around once then tie them in bows on the back…it’s so cute! - Swim Skirt: $48
I’ve spent more time at pools this past summer than the past few years combined thanks to Bryce, and have been on the hunt for a swim skirt for the longest time but nothing fit well. Then I popped into a Land’s End store and they had an end of season sale…it was meant to be. In addition to this one, I purchased a second swim skirt for $45 that was more streamlined and am trying to decide which one to keep. Land’s End has an awesome return policy, so I can return it whenever with my receipt. - Swim Rash Guard Tee: $18
Kate’s post basically sums it up for me. Sun protection, no “falling out” and I can wear my swim bottoms with it! - Striped T-Shirt Dress: $25
After seeing Audrey rave about it, I tried it out. I would size down like she says. And yes it’s maternity (and no, I’m not pregnant), but you can’t even tell that it is. I love the think black stripe and it lays so nicely! I’m definitely wearing this to work soon. - Cotton Tee (in gray, black, white): $0 c/o Shopbop
I own a few of the v-neck version and love the higher neckline on these. Soft and lay nicely. And solid colors will get me a long way in terms of remixing. A closet staple in my books! - Madewell Flat Necklace: $0 c/o Shopbop
A simple shorter necklace that pairs well with everything. I spotted it on clearance and decided to treat myself :-)
Total: $198.95– $171 income earned (via eBay and a pretty epic garage sale where I sold some clothing and other items) = $27.95 for August, although I will likely return one of the swim skirts, leaving me with a negative spend for the month!
$600: annual clothing allotment
– $383.03: total spent so far in 2016 {adjusted, returned a few things from last month}
– $0 for August (assuming I return one of the swim skirts)
= $234.02 remaining for the year
There you have it! Hoping I can make the rest of this money last…as we come into fall/winter!
What did you pick up this month?

Wow! And I thought I was a great shopper. You’ve got me beat!
Aw thanks. Can’t beat those sales and cash back sites…but honestly, if I didn’t sell a few things this month, I would have killed my budget! Phew!
Great work on those deals… you got those Zella leggings for a song!
Lots of great buys! I love those lace-up sandals, and that striped dress is so cute! I always see really cute jewelry from Madewell too, for some reason I always forget about them when I’m shopping for jewelry!
