I started with a roundup of my top five eats & drinks, and today, here are my top five favorites all centered around fitness and working out….something I genuinely enjoy doing nearly every day. It’s so important to get movement in every day– whether it’s walking around the house or multitasking when you are at your desk for 8+ hours a day with the desk exercise equipment options that are out there or a more intense workout. Making a conscious effort to work on my health always does wonders for me both mentally and physically.
Since moving this summer, there is a room in our basement that I dedicate to my fitness gear- treadmill, bike, mat area, weights, bench, etc. It’s a project that will come together, but for now it completely works and it great motivation to have everything I need in one space! Here are my favorites that have helped me along the way.
1) Peloton
I’ve had my Peloton bike for three years, and it’s honestly the best investment I’ve made in my health (see a post on that here). Not only do you get the spin classes, but there are SO many more fitness classes- from running/bootcamps to strength, barre, yoga, outdoor running (audio), and more since they are constantly adding to their lineup. From themed workouts to artists series, it keeps me motivated, I love the metrics to track my progress and it’s fun to schedule rides with friends from afar. I’ve discovered a group called Hardcore on the Floor on Facebook that has monthly calendars of workouts, and I’ve really loved the community and building strength.
Right now, Peloton has a great deal running, and with code KCSBNB you can get $100 off accessories (think spin shoes, weights, etc.) When you consider the cost of a gym membership and the driving to and from and time, etc. this is truly a no brainer.
2) Swivel Screen
Speaking of Peloton, when we moved, I knew I needed a configuration that would allow me to swivel my screen in order to have space to do the workouts on the floor. The newer Peloton Bike + already has a swivel in it, but if you have an older model like me, this swivel from Amazon is awesome and works so well.
3) Everlane leggings
Everlane’s collection of leggings are definitely a favorite. Their premium performance fabric is buttery smooth and light. It is sweat-wicking with compression (aka smoothing!), but also fairly matte (I did notice a touch of sheen to them). They are great for workouts and going out and about in public. And true to Everlane form, the fabric is also sustainably produced from 58% recycled nylon and without harmful chemicals and dyes. They also wash up well (I wash cold water and line dry) and are still in great shape after a solid year of wear.
Sizing Notes: I ordered my true size in Everlane’s Perform Legging, medium in a ankle length. (I am 5’4″ and prefer the 7/8 legging look.) They also carry a regular length with a longer inseam. See more posts of them styled here, here and here. Shop them here.

4) Workout mats
This was a new addition this year to my workout space. After researching various interlocking foam mats and asking for recommendation, these horse stall mats were the way to go. Super durable, nonslip and supportive and non-porous so bacteria/sweat can’t get through.
5) Madeline Moves app
Last year, I used the Madeline Moves app to really focus on building strength (and Peloton for more cardio purposes) and REALLY enjoyed the combination, especially with the right support like insoles for plantar fascitis that came out of nowhere after playing in an adult soccer league. Now that we are settled into the new place, I am jumping back into this workout routine. The app is just $20 a month and she releases each week’s worth of workouts on Sundays, with a specific focus on each weekday. You can do the workouts in a gym or at home with minimal equipment like free weights, these and these resistance bands (and she has lots of swaps for moves if you don’t have something specific). Her app just got a major overhaul and it is super nice compared to what it was without raising the price either! She also has a special Tighter Together 4 week challenge coming up that I’m doing that starts next week that involves workouts and a custom nutrition plan. It is $50 if you aren’t an app subscriber, but if you are, you get $20 off. Let me know if you want to join me!
