I’m trying something new on the blog: Over on Instagram, I asked if you’d be interested in seeing a weekly blog post about my workout and meal plan…and I heard back that you wanted it. So here it is!
Personally, I love reading other bloggers’ plans for the week…it gives me motivation and ideas for my own menu and fitness. And I figure if I share my plans, it will keep me accountable too.
I typically plan my menus to start on Wednesdays, which is also when I grocery shop. It’s also when the new ads/sales come out and is generally less busy at the store vs. a weekend. Regardless, I will try to share this weekly roundup at the start of the week or weekend for those that like to plan for the week ahead!
I’ll plan to share links to my recipes, tips and items I love in the kitchen, as well as workout faves too! Let me know if there are other things you want to see (or not see)…I’m all ears!
For the meal plan:
This week, I aim to try and cook all our meals at home. With the 4th last week (and husband out of town), I overindulged on sweets, treats and everything in between I feel like. So I’ve got some tasty recipes on deck that are delicious and healthy. Typically, I make one recipe a night for myself, my husband, and our 4 year old and 1 year old. If there are leftovers, my husband and/or I will eat them for lunch the next day.
–Tex Mex Veggies are AWESOME. It requires a little prep in way of chopping, but are certainly all-purpose and can be used over nachos, quesadillas (with or without protein added), salads and tacos. Makes a BIG batch and is freezer friendly. I like to have some in our freezer for busy week nights when we need dinner in a pinch!
–Summer Vegetables with Sausage & Potatoes: I adjust this recipe based on what I have on hand with veggies in our garden or from the store, and I am swapping the potatoes for rice!
-Make Your Own Pizza: I found a 4 pack of organic crusts + sauce at Costco, and it comes with a resealable bag. I let Bryce “decorate” these with various toppings: mozzarella balls, various veggies, garlic, pepperoni, etc. Some times we will get fancy and use leftover burgers as a base for cheeseburger pizza or taco pizza.
–Zucchini Carbonara: an indulgent, rich cream sauce with zoodles subbed out for noodles. SO delicious.
-There was a sale for beef, summer corn and fresh green beans so the trio together make a perfect meal! All can go on the grill too– green beans taste so good that way with a drizzle of olive oil and S&P. I’ll typically have my burger in a lettuce bun with ALL the trimmings.
–Campfire Dinner Meatloaf Foil Packets: Tried these recently, and they were very good– even by the boys! Making use of the grill on these hot days, and easy clean up with the foil packets.
For the workouts:
Trying to mix up my workouts with a combo of strength/weights and cardio in way of runs (treadmill & intervals/sprint, vs. stroller runs outside). Found a double BOB jogging stroller for a steal on Facebook Marketplace so trying to get good use out of it before Bryce outgrows it. What a workout! Ending the week with a local 5k race (undecided if I am using the stroller or not at this point.)

What I’m loving this week:
KIAVA Clothing. Their workout clothes are THE BEST. Not only are they extremely cute (so motivating to wear nice workout clothes, right?!) but they are designed SO well and are much more affordable than the higher end workout wear like Lululemon. Kiava’s Endurance bra is the best high impact bra I’ve worn, and their leggings and capris are squatproof and sweatproof! Check them out here.
Hope this plan proves to be helpful to you as we all try to maintain our own healthy lifestyles while balancing work, parenting, household duties, etc. Go get ’em!!!
