A couple of weeks ago, we went on a little family getaway to Wisconsin Dells, a fairly quick road trip from the Chicago burbs. We went during their Fall Festival Weekend and had a blast! Here’s a little recap of our fall fun…
To kick off their Fall Festival, we did the Monster Dash 5k. T pushed Bryce in the stroller and I ran it. While there were no mile markers (and my watch had a dead battery), I actually got a new PR at 23:28! Not the best managed race, but definitely the best prize, where I won a $100 gift card. Oh yeahhhh…..
There was a park right by the start/finish line, and Bryce had a blast burning off some energy afterwards…he loves slides.
Besides the 5k, their Autumn Harvest Fest had a craft beer walk, live entertainment, Dells On Tap microbrew tasting, face painting, a craft fair, petting zoo and food vendors—lots of really cool stuff!
Bryce loved the sheep…seeing one in real life versus a book was pretty exciting for him!
Where we ate: among the highlights, we ate at the High Rock Cafe (pictured above), River Walk Pub, Wild Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Resort and of course, Sprecher’s…where I had a flight of their sodas on tap. SO good.
We stayed at the Chula Vista Resort. It’s located on the Wisconsin River with some gorgeous views and a scenic riverwalk which is where our room faced towards. Our room was great because it had a separate bedroom with a door that Bryce was able to sleep in so that T and I could watch TV and relax in the evenings without disturbing Bryce. It was his first hotel stay and it worked out well! The huge room helped…he was able to run around, jump on the bed and partake in other shenanigans.
And since Wisconsin Dells is known as the Waterpark Capital of the World, we definitely hit up the Chula Vista indoor water park. It had a nice walk way so we didn’t have to go outside in order to get to it. Bryce loved playing in the toddler area and eventually got brave enough to go down some bigger slides with me. The lazy river was great too!
The resort also had kid activities as part of their Camp Chula program. It had books, games and art projects available for kiddos and fun activities too! Bryce (with Dad’s help) decorated a sugar cookie!
We also squeezed in some shopping at the Tanger Outlets– it was a beautiful covered outdoor mall with string lights along the inside. So pretty!
After each day, Bryce was definitely ready to get to bed. We brought along our pack n’ play, but he definitely enjoyed jumping in our bed!
The weather was so nice during the weekend, and the colors of the leaves were breathtaking. We spent some time at the Riverwalk watching the ducks, boats and checking out the leaves.
All in all, it was a wonderful long weekend with the family. Lots of fun and memories!
