After watching the Chicago Marathon on TV yesterday, I was completely blown away by the sheer athleticism. 26.2 miles— that is such an incredible feat! Needless to say, I don’t think I will be running a marathon, but I definitely caught the running bug after watching the event (and seeing my Facebook news feed infiltrated with photos, words of encouragement, etc.)
That said, I’ve got a few more races left for the year that I am really looking forward to:
–Hero Half 10k- October 20 (Dunes State Park, IN)
–Hot Chocolate 5k/15k– November 3 (Chicago, IL)
–Turkey Trot 5k/10k– November 28 (Valparaiso, IN)
In looking back at my fall running mileage, however, I am not getting than many miles in versus the summer months. I know a big part of it is adjusting to the new job, but also I’m just running out of daylight hours when I get home from work. That is such a bummer, especially when it starts to get colder. Boooo.
June- 70.43 miles
July- 86.32
August- 60.44
September- 38.05
I AM, however, looking forward to the Hot Chocolate 5k/15k in Chicago. I would like to commit to the 15k, but I am trying to be realistic. Based on my limited time to train, I think the 5k might be the best option. Either way, it is going to be a SWEET (pun intended) race!
As a blogger ambassador, I’ve already gotten some awesome swag…and in full disclosure, the kind folks at RAM Racing also provided me with a free race entry as well as one to give away! (Scroll down to see if the winner was you!)
But really, the swag for all participants is amazing. First off, the goodie bags promise to be AWESOME. I can’t wait to sport this fleece on runs! It even has a zip pocket in the back!
And the course itself looks super scenic! The last race I did downtown was a few years ago for the inaugural Rock & Roll Chicago Half Marathon, so I’m excited to hit the pavement in the city!
And then there’s the post race party with hot chocolate and fondue. Honestly- can it get any better?! (The answer is no…nothing is better than running and getting chocolate afterwards, especially for a chocoholic. Nom nom nom.)
So…to follow up on the whole Hot Chocolate race entry giveaway…
Congrats to Michel, who won a free entry to any Hot Chocolate race!

Woo hoo! Are you going to do the Chicago race!?
I have not heard good things about the Hot Chocolate race but hopefully this year they will put on a good event!
Yeah I saw a lot of feedback on the CRB FB group but I am hoping some issues have been addressed this year! We will see!
