This past weekend, the hubs and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary and headed up north to the cabin in Wisconsin for some R&R! So nice to take an extended weekend to relax with my love!
Lots of outdoor time with plenty of fresh air! We took Izzy out on the dock and needless to say, she isn’t much of a water doggy. More princess genes than adventurous ones I suppose!
Ate some delicious meals, including pancakes with real maple syrup collected from the trees outside, steak kabobs and a broccoli bacon quiche!
Lots of fun things to observe out in nature (behind glass of course, according to Izzy).
Plenty of outdoor time! (And it was so nice not wearing makeup and letting my hair air dry these few days- like a skin/hair detox!)
I ran two days while we were up there- each day I did a different 5 mile course, with lots of hills!
Saturday it rained buckets. Like massive downpour the whole day. That meant lots of napping and movie watching!
Even Izzy got in on the napping!
But now it’s time to get back into the groove of things…hoping it’s a smooth transition!
How was your weekend?

Sounds like a super relaxing weekend! What a great way to celebrate your anniversary!
Our weekend was great! We took a short roadtrip to KC :)
It definitely was! And isn’t summer perfect for roadtrips?! How fun!
What a great weekend! Real maple syrup is the best!
It’s SOOO much better than the stuff from the grocery store!
Looks like a lot of fun. My husband is taking me away this weekend for my birthday. I can’t wait.

Happy early birthday to you! Do you know where you are headed or is it a surprise? Have a blast!
What an adorable cabin! Looks like y’all had a great trip – happy anniversary!
Thanks Sarah- it was such a blast to getaway and break from our normal routine and celebrate…much needed!
Happy 5 year! I have always wanted to do a cozy cabin getaway with my husband and dog – it just sounds so romantic. Sounds like you had a great time!
Thank you Ashley- and a HUGE congrats to you and your husband! (I am behind on my blog reading but definitely saw your announcement!) I highly recommend a getaway like this– more of a babymoon for you guys!
What a dream! This looks amazing. How great to have a mix of good weather and not so good weather?! I love movie and nap days but also days being out in the sun. Also, completely jealous that you had maple syrup from a tree outside.
The weather situation was actually perfect- I won’t complain about lazy afternoons of movies and naps! And that syrup was SO good– what a difference compared to the stuff at a grocery store!
