Week 27 Bump Update
How far along are you? 27 weeks (although I’m a bit behind on this post since I was away for the babymoon! Technically, I’m at 28 weeks today.) Week 27 is the last week of the 2nd trimester- that went so fast! My next couple appointments are going to be every 3 weeks (as opposed to 4 weeks so far), then will go down to weekly.
How big is baby?: According to The Bump app, Baby P is the size of a rutabaga, measuring 13.6-14.8 inches and weighing in anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 pounds. That little nugget isn’t so little anymore! He’s practicing inhaling/exhaling with developing lungs and is showing brain activity!
Symptoms: Feeling pretty tired by end of day, dry/itchy skin (double whammy since I get this in the dry winter months anyways), some lower back pain and an evolving belly button making it’s way outward- so weird!
Sleeping: Until recently, I’ve been sleeping like a rock (although I’ve been having crazy dreams each night, but it hasn’t woken me up). But at week 26, I started to get restless and haven’t been sleeping as well. Bummer…at least I made it this long!
Cravings/Aversions? Nothing major to report. Still loving carbs…and raspberries. And apparently as baby gets bigger, he curbs your appetite and you eat smaller meals because you feel full quicker. So far, I feel like my appetite has been the same..I want all the food!
Fears: Was worried about the glucose test, but I passed at my doctor’s appointment a couple weeks ago! Definitely still anxious about the whole labor/delivery thing, but who isn’t?!
Miss Anything? Running and moving as quickly as I used to. But all for a good reason!
Generally Feeling: Great! I didn’t work out much last week while on the babymoon, but hope to pick it up back. I am planning to do a bit more walking as opposed to running (baby is on my bladder!) and trying to get it done in the AM before work so I don’t pass on it when I get home because I’m too exhausted. I also tried a prenatal yoga classes with a friend–something totally different to me. Not much of a workout in my opinion, but definitely worthwhile when it comes to breathing/relaxation techniques– and I need all the help I can get!
Super cute socks from my local Pure Barre studio…adorable!
Looking Forward To: Finishing up the nursery…and a couple baby showers in March. SO excited!
What I’ve Been Loving: A lot of people (even strangers) are noticing my bump and asking when I’m due. Yay for moving out of the “I just ate a big meal” look :-)
Maternity Clothes? A mix, but mostly maternity. Been on the hunt for a cute dress for baby showers…don’t want to spend a ton, so we will see. I’ve ordered a few and will see how they turn out. I’ll plan to include links for them in my January budget post in the next day or so. I also got some wonderful pieces from Pink Blush Maternity…blog review coming soon! And I was thinking about getting a band to support my belly during workouts…any recommendations?
Boy or Girl: It’s a boy! Excited to meet my little guy :-)
Movement: Lots now! Even at my desk at work, all day, when I’m going to sleep. He’s an active little guy!
What I did/got for baby: Lots of classes coming up! I say knowledge is power, so we signed up for a bunch through our hospital, starting with Infant CPR/Safety. an 8 hour childbirth prep class, Newborn Care Basics, Safe Sleep for Baby, Transitioning into Parenthood, Preparation for Breastfeeding and Lamaze. Also looking forward to a meet and greet with a pediatrician practice nearby. Also got my breastpump through insurance. It didn’t come with the bag/cooler set (I went with Medela), but I found an awesome deal on Zulily for them! Click here to check it out…then type in “Medela” in the search bar…deal ends today!
Best moment of the week: The babymoon! It was such a great time to get away and relax! We have one more mini getaway scheduled in February (Christmas gift from T’s folks), but otherwise, we plan to have some dinners out, go to an alumni event/basketball game and see a movie. Any other “baby bucket list” things we should do?
