When you put an outfit together, there's a simple little trick to instantly elevate your look. It's called a third (completer) piece. Interestingly enough, I've read that employees at Nordstrom, Madewell, Banana Republic and others are encouraged to wear outfits of three pieces (not including shoes). Why? Because a third piece helps them look more put together and knowledge about fashion. Crazy right?! This idea is particularly easy to follow in fall and winter when layers are key to Read More

Mom Style, Vol. 14- Cardigans
For this month's Mom Style Remix item, I was excited to see cardigans featured for May. They are a versatile layer through all the seasons, and obviously, you don't have to be a Mama to rock them. So today I put together a little round-up of some of my favorite outfits featuring a cardigan. As you can see- I own several- open front, drapey, cocoon, button-up, you name it. And color-wise, I run the gammet- prints to neutrals to colors. #sorrynotsorry I had fun going through past blog posts Read More
October 2015 Stitch Fix Review
With my 30th birthday this past weekend, I scheduled myself a fix from Stitch Fix to treat myself! It’s so hard to go shopping with a baby, let alone with clothes- so this is the best way to do it! I really enjoy pinning specific Stitch Fix items on my Pinterest board, but also appreciate a fun surprise every now and then. I asked for casual, classic pieces in plain colors and not too many patterns. No boxy tunics or sheer tops. Check out what I got! Let’s get down to each piece with the Read More
Mix it Monday: Leopard Top Remix
Happy Monday! It’s been a while since I’ve done a Mix it Monday post, so here you go! Today I’m featuring my leopard print shell and created four distinct looks that are all office-appropriate. First up, there’s the classic look where I tucked in the top to a cream pencil skirt. Nice for summer…not so much now in October. To make it more fall-like, I added a black blazer over it. Much better for October! Next I ditched the skirt for cropped ankle pants and untucked the top. I Read More

Not only can this be worn in the summer as a sleeveless option, but you can also layer it with cardigans or blazers to transition it into other seasons at the office. Case in point: Full posts: one | two | three What is your go-to item in your closet when you can’t think of what to wear? Linking up with Fizz & Frosting | On the Daily Express | Read More
Cognac Accents & Winter Must Haves
Inspiration photo: I do deClaire When I saw Laura’s outfit featuring lots of cozy layers, I knew I had to recreate it using items in my own closet given polar vortex #2 we are experiencing in Chicago. (Don’t worry, I do have pantyhose on, but the black tights or leggings would have been a much warmer choice!) Anything that involves tall boots, scarves and layers is a great option for winter in my book. I love the pops of cognac in the boots, belt and scarf. Plus, Read More
Maroon Shift Dress Remix & Our First Dance
So here’s a little weekend recap: Friday night the hubs and I laid low but Saturday I did a challenging but fun workout led by my friend Kim at a local studio. There were several other bloggers in attendance, and we had a great time doing a kettlebell and boxing workout, followed by a delicious lunch. So nice to meet up with these ladies! From L to R in photo above: Lauren, Britt, Kelly, Amy, Kim, Erin, Sara, me! In the evening, my husband and I met another couple for dinner out and Read More
