It’s time for another Stitch Fix review! This time around, I was a bit more specific with my requests for my Stitch Fix stylist. I pinned several Stitch Fix items on my board, and also requested plain, bright color tops, a pair of classic skinny jeans and a more neutral maxi skirt than the one in my second fix.
The note from my stylist said that not everything was available (meaning, none of the items on my Pinterest board- total bummer), but she did deliver on the neutral maxi skirt, skinny jeans and a couple bright color plain tops.
So let’s jump into and see exactly what I got for this fix!
First up:
Breyson Split-Neck Tab-Sleeve Knit Top by 41 Hawthorn ($48)
I do love the color of this top and the fact that you can wear the sleeves long or roll them up and secure them to make 3/4 sleeves, but the material is very clingy and shows everything—you can see what I mean with the shot of the back of it.
Next up:
Bowie Solid Dolman Sleeve Top by Laila Jayde ($58)
This is a great fall color but I’m just not a fan of dolman sleeve tops. I already have broad shoulders and don’t want to emphasize them! Plus, the top was a little too sheer for me (especially for a sweater) and not worth the $58 price tag—even if I applied my $20 styling fee as the credit towards it.
Also in the photos above is the third item:
Adorra Ankle Length Skinny Jean by Just Black ($88)
These jeans were very nice- had a bit of stretch to them and were classic with no embellishments, which I like. The wash was a tad dark for my liking but I did consider keeping these, despite the price tag (finding jeans is a tough task!)
And also featured in these photos is the one accessory in my fix:
Lynx Layered Beaded Necklace by 31 Bits ($48)
This necklace was included by my stylist because it was similar to this one on my Pinterest board. Very pretty and the colors worked well with the two tops in my fix but there is no way I’m going to pay $48 for a necklace! (However, if I was going to keep everything in my fix and get 20% off, then I would consider it!) Although I think it was pricier because it was made by or proceeds went to help women in Africa so at least there is a social cause behind the high price tag!
And rounding out the fix:
Mallory Mixed Stripe Maxi Skirt by Gilli ($68)
I had asked for more neutral colors in a maxi skirt, and my stylist delivered. However, I just wasn’t a fan of the stripes going in every direction and the front panel. As my husband said, “it looks like they ran out of fabric in the middle and sewed in that piece!” Needless to say, I’m not keeping this one—I was hoping for a neutral black & white maxi skirt with subtle stripes like this one, but oh well!
So there you have it! In full transparency, I don’t think I will be keeping anything from this fix but I’m hoping the next fix will be a home run! I pinned several more items and have really asked for just items I’ve pinned so I’ll be sure I love them!
What do you think of this fix? Anything I should have kept?
And if you want to sign up for try out Stitch Fix, I would recommend trying it out for at least one fix! It’s just $20 for your fix and the $20 will be applied as a credit towards anything you keep.

I actually sort of like the skirt but I can see what you’re saying about that center part seeming a bit out of place.
I have a few tops that are clingy like that but I wear a camisole under them and that seems to help a bit. Sometimes. Not always.
I like the jeans, too. I don’t mind paying more for jeans because I know I’ll wear them for a really long time. Those almost look black which are easy to wear to work!
My next Fix should be sitting in my building’s package room as I type. I asked for white jeans so let’s see what happens.
Also, in terms of them not having what you’ve pinned. I think they might buy last year’s stuff or sample sale stuff so they have a limited number of each piece. All I know is that I can NEVER find the things they send me online which makes me wonder :-)
You’re right- the cami would have helped with the orange and teal tops but really wanted to save my moolah/SF credit for items I really really love. I was SO close to getting the jeans but then the AE opportunity came along and I love that brand so much (and can’t beat free!) I can’t wait to see what you got…I bet you’ve gone though it by now right!?
VERY interesting point on the availability of items. I can never find them either! I saw an article where they sent someone an item with the Nordstrom Rack tag still attached and it was a big fiasco, but SF insisted they don’t buy from retailers like that and mark up prices, etc. Hmmm….I’m being really diligent and trying to add pins of recent items from other peoples fixes so hopefully I will get lucky next time!
Whoa! I missed that drama!
And do you follow a lot of people who get SF often?
There’s one piece in my current fix that I LOVE but it’s a tad bit too small. I’ve emailed them to see if they can find me a larger size but I’m still waiting to hear back. Thankfully they’ve extended my return date until the end of the week so they can get back to me.
Yes! Here’s the article: http://www.adweek.com/adfreak/why-did-these-68-shorts-stitch-fix-show-2495-price-tag-nordstrom-rack-159245
I always search for blogs that have it and browse through Pinterest…lots and lots of reviews out there!
And I didn’t realize that you could possibly get a different size for something you wanted to keep- let me know what they say!
I really LOVE the pink sweater. It looks so good on you! I would have kept that. And yeah, it’s a little sheer, but that’s what a good cami is for!
Thanks Mo! Yeah a cami would have definitely helped..it was super comfy but I think I am going to save my moolah for an item(s) I really, really like- hoping the next fix is a good one!
I agree with your decision to not keep anything from that shipment. I laughed out loud at your husband’s comment on the maxi skirt -something my husband would have said. I did like the necklace, and would have considered keeping it, but everything else? Meh.
Ooooh those husbands…very honest feedback but they tell it like it is! Thanks for reading Elaine!
I love that sweater too- it does not make your shoulders look broad!
Aww thanks Katie! The color is so perfect for fall and it was quite comfy…but trying to hold out and purchase an items I really, really like- hoping that comes in my next fix! I can’t wait to see what you got! Do you plan do to a review on the blog?
I agree with your rationale for not keeping these items–for those prices you ought to really love the pieces! I might consider keeping that first top and wearing a cami underneath to smooth things over–I’ve been known to do that with clingy tops. That color blue is truly beautiful on you.
I hope your next fix has more of what you’re looking for!
Thanks Caroline! Yeah the cami would definitely help and the color is so pretty but I’d rather save my moolah and SF credits for something I really like! Crossing my fingers for the next one…
I don’t think I would have kept anything either. The items are cute, but just not quite right in one way or another. Good decision!
My thoughts exactly- I want to hold out for something I realllly want! Good thing I didn’t end up getting anything…I made up for it with my clothing budget at the Kate Spade outlet haha!
