I am a huge chocoholic with a massive sweet tooth, and fancy drinks from Starbucks and other coffee shops can not only wreck havoc on your budget, but also on your waistline (case in point: A tall Starbucks’ Salted Caramel Signature Hot Chocolate made with nonfat milk is 460 calories, 53 grams of sugar and 22 grams of fat!)
Luckily, I found a delicious, decadent recipe that satisfies my sweet tooth and is easy to make!
Sinless Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate (recipe adapted from Hungry Girl):
Ingredients (makes 1 serving):
2 packets Diet Hot Cocoa Mix
3 tsp. fat-free caramel dip (like the kind by Marzetti), divided
1/4 cup Fat Free Reddi-wip
2 dashes ground sea salt
1 dash Splenda No Calorie Sweetener (granulated) or granulated sugar
Directions:
Empty both cocoa packets into a mug. Add 1.5 cups very hot water (or for a few extra calories and added richness, use 1 cup water and 1/2 cup skim milk), and mix until powder has dissolved. (I like using a whipper like this one to get everything mixed well.)
Add 2 tsp. caramel dip, and stir until it melts into the hot cocoa. Add Splenda and stir.
Place the remaining tsp. caramel dip in a small microwave-safe dish, and heat for 10 seconds. Stir until smooth and pourable. Then top cocoa with Reddi-wip and drizzle the caramel on top. Sprinkle the whole thing evenly with the salt. Enjoy!

This sounds delicious!
Looks good! Salted caramel hot cocoa is one of my once-a-season treats… I may need to consider this next time I want one– I had my Starbucks splurge back in December!
Hmmm. I don’t do sugar substitutes but this looks so good! Maybe I’ll just make it with real sugar and call it a once-in-awhile treat.
