Another week, another edition of Mom Style coming at ya! This look was inspired by a few things…
– Valentine’s Day. Because what says V-Day like a blush sequin trim sweatshirt?!
– #MomStyleRemix for March featuring sweatshirts– check mark! I’m so ahead of the game…by a couple weeks. HA!
– Bri’s Third Thursday Threads for this month, which is all about blush.
I grabbed this sweatshirt back in December when J.Crew Factory was having a sale on their clearance items. It’s sold out in both J. Crew and J. Crew Factory versions, but I did find it available through Amazon in gray, blush and navy in select sizes. But really, what’s not to love about a comfy sweatshirt with a hint of sass with those sequins? It’s perfect for a low-key Valentine’s Day with the family, or even a couple months back at New Year’s Eve festivities in your friend’s basement while the babies were asleep. #adulting #partylikeits1999
I’ve worn this sweatshirt several times, mostly with {blue} jeans, but opted to go with my Old Navy rockstar jeans in gray. Problem is- what color shoes do you wear with this? I think the cognac boots work, right? But what else? Is black too dark? Help a girl out!
Oh, and the photos above are a little off in the color (I tried my best to fix them, but the shot below captures the color a bit better, FYI.)

That sweatshirt is so cute! I love the color and fun sequins! You just can’t go wrong with sequins! As for shoes, I feel like black could work, especially if you mixed in black somewhere else in the outfit-maybe a black scarf or necklace to balance it all out? I have the same problem finding shoes to go with my grey jeans. I always end up with flats!
My thoughts exactly Laura! And good point on black– I’ll have to try that, especially if there is another pop of it elsewhere so it doesn’t look odd on its own in the shoes. Erin at Loop Looks recommended gray booties, which would totally work- didn’t even think of it!
Lovely sweatshirt! The last picture really shows how pretty it is.
Thanks Lanae! You’re right, the last photo really captures the color best…my lens was not picking it up well outside!
I tend to default to my gray ankle boots when I wear my gray jeans. Sometimes I think I need gray knee-high boots, too!
Ahh gray would make perfect sense! I love your boots- know exactly which ones you are talking about! I feel like those lace up wedge/heel booties (like from Tom’s, etc.) would be cute too…just wonder if they are comfortable for all day wear?
My Tom’s wedges (the cheetah print ones) are probably one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes that I own. I’ve walked to work in them (almost 2 miles) and I’ve worn them to walk around the Chicago Auto Show. I think that’s a pretty good testament to them being fit for all day wear!
I immediately scrolled to the bottom to find out where that necklace is from – I love it! So sad it’s an older piece and I can’t go out and buy it for myself right now…but my bank account thanks you! This is a great outfit – love the sequin details! Thanks for linking up :)
Ooh I love this sweatshirt! Perfect for a mom style – comfy and cozy but still has a little extra shazaam. And yes, I say cognac works great here!
Thanks Anne! Love me some shazaam…the more the better!
I’m adding my voice to the chorus and saying that I loooove that sweatshirt. The color of those sequins is so beautiful and perfect for this time of year moving from winter to spring.
So sweet, Katie- thanks! Agreed- it’s a nice transition piece and can be coupled with darker accessories like a vest, scarf, etc. for colder months, or ivory accessories for more spring-like looks.
