This week, my sweet little baby will turn one. ONE. Where did the time go?! Before I get all emotional over here, let’s get to the outfit.
Said birthday boy is having a party and that means lots of errands. Menu. Cake. Decor. You name it. In the name of comfort, I paired a basic black palette with a cargo jacket and added a scarf for warmth (did I mention it snowed last week here in Chicago…in APRIL?!) PS- Looking for some more cargo outfit inspiration? I’ve got ya covered.
The end result? Functional, yet fashionable and perfect for anything from the playdates to party prep. Now…if you need me, I’ll be busy rolling through my photo feed from the last year, getting all sappy. Time really flies by, people!
I’ll be sure to do some sort of recap of Bryce’s party on the blog…and speaking of that cute little guy, I’ve got another post coming up for anyone with a kiddo in their life (cough *giveaway* cough). Consider yourself warned…

And no post is complete without a photobomb by Izzy…she wanted in on the shot too!
Love the athleisure look! I need a pair of black workout leggings. The only ones I have are my school colors from high school and college!
Oh I’m so glad you showed some black Nikes! I got a similar pair before our vacation, which were perfect for wearing on the plane with leggings and a sweater, and then doubling as my workout shoe during the trip, but I haven’t been able to incorporate them into non-workout looks as well as hoped since getting back from the trip. This is such a simple but super cute idea though that totally works with the sneakers but doesn’t look to gym-ish. Thanks for the idea :)
And have fun with the 1st birthday party! I remember how crazy that felt – but so fun to plan and celebrate though.
Love your remixes with your black Nikes too- will definitely be looking for inspiration. And thanks! It’s crazy but oh so fun :-) My next project to tackle after the party is ordering photos from our photoshoot, the party and our week-by-week shots that we took with him since birth. Ready….go!
Love the leggings styled with the cargo jacket and scarf! This is such a fabulous look! Happy Birthday to your son!

Thanks Jill! I could wear this look every day…talk about comfort!
Super cute outfit! I’m not a mom, I’m a teenage girl, but I’d totally wear this :) You look great!

This totally works for any age range, just particularly comfortable for me with chasing after a mobile little guy. Glad you like it! Thanks for reading!
Love this casual chic look! I can’t believe I don’t have a leopard scarf yet, it looks good with everything!

I’m head over heels for this outfit! I must be going through an olive green phase. The combo with the leopard and black is perfect. And agreed on first birthday parties – you’re running around so much, you might as well opt for sneakers. You definitely rock the look! And happy birthday to your little one! Oh my goodness, so many feels at the first birthday party. I wonder if #2 is the same way – we’ll be celebrating that this year.
I can’t get over my olive green phase…it must be here to stay for me! And I’ll be curious to hear how your 2nd kiddo’s birthday goes- I’m sure it’s still all the feels :-) Thanks for stopping by!
