Every other week, I attend a MOPS meeting with fellow Mamas. I love spending this time with like-minded mothers, plus we always have an amazing breakfast buffet. And coffee. Lots of coffee. Obviously. We typically have an activity or a speaker too. At our last meeting, we made two types of herb compound butter. It was so easy and they packed a TON of flavor. Ours is nearly gone at our house and I think I’m going to make more for Thanksgiving and even make some for Christmas gifts (I’ll likely do a post on it, so stay tuned.)
Anyways, back to the outfits. I actually wore this to our meeting. I was running late that morning with Bryce so I pulled together some of my favorite closet staples. It’s a pretty basic outfit formula: leggings + tee + layering piece + completer piece. And with remixable neutrals in my closet, it just makes for quick, easy decisions. Win.
Clearly, I love a cargo jacket with almost anything, but these days I especially love it with leggings and boots. Very fall-ish, and comfortable/necessary for daily life with a toddler. Without a doubt, my cargo jacket is a real wardrobe multi-tasker and definitely a closet staple for me. Besides the massive versatility of this piece, I appreciate that it provides pockets. Fellow mamas know that pockets are necessary for all.the.things.
And the focal point of the outfit that takes it beyond super casual? This necklace from blogger Natalie Borton, one of my style inspirations lately. I love the simplicity of it and I love the mix of white, wood and gold. You’ll be seeing more of this piece for sure. She just put a bunch of new pieces in her shop, and a few may have made their way to my Christmas list.
What are your closet staples?

Two questions:
1. How are the sleeves on that tee? I like my sleeves a bit shorter than a normal t-shirt (as in, none of those “unisex” sleeves for me!) and I can’t tell from the Shopbop photos if they would be too long.
2. What do you do if it’s not quite warm enough for just the cargo jacket? Do you wear another jacket over it and treat the cargo jacket like a cardigan? Or is that silly?
The sleeves are definitely more of a women’s fit…I think it falls nicely. Here’s a couple posts where you can see the scoop neck and the v-neck version of that tee. I wish Shopbop sold the long sleeve versions!
And if it’s quite cold (like today), I’d wear my longer winter coat over it until I got inside. In that case, I like to treat the cargo jacket as part of the outfit, to your point. I often add a big infinity scarf with the cargo jacket and that really warms me up so I can forget the coat, but only to a certain temperature :-)
This is one of my favorite go to looks! Simple, functional and totally chic. Beautiful!
