If you can still wear sandals where you live, I am jealous. Regardless, this is one of those outfits that is definitely a transitional one as you move from summer heat to cooler fall temps.
It’s my trusty go-to outfit formula featuring some closet staples:
+ base= cotton dress (in my case: stripes)
+ layering piece (chambray shirt-I pulled together a few ways you can wear one, cardigan, vest, blazer, cargo jacket)
+ accessory (necklace or scarf)
And of course the essentials:
+ bag (usually, it’s a diaper bag, but for times when I don’t need one, this Madewell Mini Transport tote does the trick. Simple and timeless. And the rich cognac color? Love!)
+ shoes (sandals, booties, flats- whatever floats your boat! Sidenote: I figured out a new way to tie these sandals so there is a bow at the back- so fun!)
I don’t typically try to match completer pieces like my shoes and bag, but it just happened here. I don’t think it’s too matchy-matchy being that they are neutral tones…right?!

Haha – I think the matchy-matchy is great! I love it when accessories “accidentally” match. And your hair looks great, girl!
Ok, good. Me too! :-) Thanks Steph!
I love when my accessories match like that. I do love your outfit but I really love your decor in the back so lovely lol

Thanks Rosie- me too. And we just put up those shelves- I love how the space turned out!
I LOVE this dress! The stripes are perfect and I love the chambray shirt tied around your waist!

Thanks Ruth! Tying it around my waist is a lot less preppy than around my shoulders- remember that look?!
Cute outfit! Perfect for transitioning into the colder weather months :)

I’ve been seeing so many copycat things at Target– just saw a dress there very similar to one at Madewell, and much cheaper of course! That place is dangerous- love Target!
