Apologies in advance on these shots, it was a particularly sunny day- hence the sunglasses and overexposed photos…but you get the idea. #bloggerproblems
Maxi Dress: Old Navy {exact}
Gladiator Sandals: Payless {exact, comes in tan or black!)
Dog Tag Pendant Necklace: Baublebar, old {similar}
I’ve had a black maxi dress on my clothing wish list for a loooong time. I owned other maxi dresses, but they were patterns or prints AKA not as remixable. I knew I wanted a basic black maxi but never found one that worked…either it was too strappy or couldn’t be worn with a regular bra, too sheer, too boxy…you name it.
But then Old Navy came to the rescue, as always.
I love the coverage over the chest, perfect for when I’m bending down chasing after Bryce. The gathered waist is perfect to define the figure (although if you slouch a little like I did in the photos, it doesn’t look super flattering with the excess material at the top, but no biggie.) And the best part? The length! The reviews said it came above the ankle, and I found it to be true, and I’m what I consider average height at 5’5″. (I ordered a regular medium.) It’s perfect for climbing up the stairs with Bryce to change him without tripping over my dress! #momstylewin
I paired it with a simple long necklace and these gladiators that have a low wedge since I don’t do shoes with height much these days. All in all, a very Grecian style look in my opinion!
And can we talk about my braid for a minute? I’ve always been a horrible braider. Like real bad. I grew up playing soccer and would always beg friends to french braid my hair for games when it was all the rage but was never able to pull it off on my own- wa waaa. Then out of nowhere before church one day, I had the urge to try it along my hairline, and much to my surprise, it didn’t look like a giant rat’s nest! VICTORY!

I love how you styled a black maxi dress – such a closet staple right?

It totally is a staple! Can’t believe it took this long to find it, but glad I did!
Love this dress! I bought it in the orange and olive colors. So flattering! You are right, it is a great Mom dress! Love the side braid too!
I kinda want the olive version too…when I like an article of clothing, I totally get it in multiple colors ha!
