My Minimalism Style, Athleisure Edition: Elevating a Leggings Outfit

Leggings are pretty much my go-to on the days when I am not at work. Just can’t beat ’em- they are comfortable, warm, and ideal for playing with a toddler. Since I usually wear them with sneakers of some sort, I usually want to dress in athletic wear on the top too. So in an effort to avoid the whole “sporty spice” look, I opted to go more of the athleisure route.

My chambray shirts have been getting a lot more wear these days (more on why I love it here), and this was a great opportunity to do it again. I typically wear a lot of black with my favorite leggings, so I lightened it up with the chambray popover and added this quilted gray vest with black piping, which I randomly spotted on the clearance rack at Marshall’s HomeGoods. It’s the perfect layer for added warmth without being too bulky, and the fact that it has some texture gives it an elevated, more polished look versus my stash of polyester shell vests. Plus, it’s slightly longer in the back to cover my back side. Win.

Yeah, I’d say it’s definitely a style win over my typical black hoodie or college soccer sweatshirts, although those are lovely in their own right… :-)
