Last year, I ran the inaugural Hero 10k race at the beautiful Indiana Dunes State Park, along with fellow blogger Erin, and my cousin Kelly. We had a blast…
Erin took the superhero theme to the next level. It was epic.
And my cousin and I used the gorgeous scenery for some jumping photos, obviously.
And I’m back again this year…with a giveaway for not one but TWO lucky runners!
The details:
Hero Half Marathon and 10k
When: Sunday, October 19 at 8 am CST
Where: Indiana Dunes State Park (40 miles east of Chicago on Lake Michigan)
Cost: $40 for 10k, $75 for half marathon
Register: Herohalf.com and use code IMANORIGINAL for $5 off (and another $5 will automatically be donated to the two charities this year!)
Check out this video to see exactly what the course is like!
As you’ll see from the video, the course is actually very flat and runs alongside some really gorgeous views of the beach, especially in Beverly Shores where you can see the Chicago skyline very clearly. It does go through the Dunes State Park along some dunes, but not up any of them! Come race day, the leaves will be turning to the fall orange, yellow and red colors so it should be gorgeous!
And now the fun part…I’m giving away TWO free entries to the race! You get to decide the distance: half marathon or 10k. Use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter. Please enter only if you know you can attend. Good luck!
Disclaimer: I was provided with a free race entry and two additional entries to giveaway in exchange for promotion on my blog. I ran the race last year and loved the course, so I wanted to share with you!
I’ve been dying to run this race! I wanted to run it last year but the timing didn’t work out! The scenery looks GORGEOUS and I love the smaller, more local races. I’m also starting to work on my goal of running a race in all 50 states, and I’ve never run in Indiana. =)
We’ll definitely get you racing in Indiana in no time…if you ever need a suggestion- let me know! I grew up in Northwest Indiana right over the border so happy to help!
I have always wanted to check out the Indiana Dunes and it looked like fun last year!
Oh you would love it Erica! Such a great race in fall–lovely scenery!
Would love to run this in my hometown or aka the region! #NWI
My hometown too…love it! :-) Good luck to you!
You’re right this area is beautiful with the Lake and the dunes and the trees. I’d love to run this race!
Good luck to you Barb!
If the course lives up to those pictures, it would be worth the drive.
Definitely- it’s such a scenic race! Good luck to you!
I wanted to do this race last year, but I had a sprained ankle. It was not a fun time!
Bummer…hopefully you can make it this year! Good luck to you!
I heard so much about this race from you and Erin… sounds like a ton of fun!
You would LOVE it Lauren! Good luck!
What gorgeous scenery! Looks like such a great race!
It’s a beautiful course- perfect fall race for sure!
I ran the 10k last year and it was so much fun. I would like to possibly do the half this year. It would be my first half marathon!
Good luck Tara! It is such a beautiful course and perfect timing for a half– not too hot and not too cold!
Is it rude if I enter and win again? I’ve been waiting to sign up for this race until I figured out what my October schedule looked like. So, yeah :-) I really want to do it (and I have REAL white knee high running socks this year) even though I’m totally not trained for a 10K right now. I may not defend my age group win from last year but I can still appreciate the views!
Not at all! I am definitely not trained for it either but have a sweet batman t-shirt with detachable cape…and it even has abs imprinted on the shirt. OH yeah! Good luck!
