Ok, can I just tell you how hard it is to run on a treadmill while on a moving ship?!
Imagine being drunk…and then running on a treadmill. That’s what it felt like. I was working overtime to make sure my feet landed on the belt each time. Crazy challenging! Although the view was pretty sweet…

Kudos to you for continuing your efforts to stay in shape on your cruise! I need to get back to the gym and am having a hard time doing that… can’t imagine what it would be like if I had the option to spend all day laying in the sun with a book!
Yeah it was tempting to just be lazy but with all the eating I was doing, I KNEW I had to move my butt! (They mentioned that the average cruiser gains 1-2 pounds a DAY on a cruise so I did NOT want that to happen!)
Treadmills make me dizzy even when I am on dry land, so I can’t imagine how bad it would be on the cruise ship! I did use the elliptical machine a couple times on my recent cruise. Laying around by the pools all day was amazing, but we started to feel too lazy, and went to the gym on the days when we were just at sea.
Yeah it was definitely an experience! I should have done the elliptical- I would have had better balance that way! Yeah I was getting sick and tired of stuffing my face constantly so I knew I should get movin!!
Hey Valerie! I tried to reply to the comment you left me, but you’re set up as a “no reply” blogger, so I’ll just comment here! The Fault in Our Stars will probably make you cry, but it is so good! I went on my cruise during the first week of March, and I blogged about it in the second week. The first post is here (http://just-another-smith.blogspot.com/2013/03/oh-galveston.html) and then I did a post for every day of vacation. And now I already want to go on vacation again! It would probably help if it stopped snowing soon…
I’ve never run on the treadmill on a cruise ship but I have run on the track! My Garmin didn’t know what to make of that. It picked up the speed of the ship instead of my speed. I’m the fastest human ever!! I have used the elliptical and the balance ball on the ship, though, and those were both pretty tough.
That’s hilarious…Garmin is so confused :-) Oh wow- a stability ball?! You are daring!
LOL! Running on a treadmill while drunk! I don’t like them when I am sober… would that make it better? Hee hee. I never would have imagined it would be so hard! Makes sense though. WTG on getting those workouts in!
HAHA that would be an interesting experiment to see if you’d like it better that way?! Hmm :-)
(If you’ve ever seen the Mythbusters episode about being drunk while on a treadmill…that was how I felt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2Z6nXdlQaw)
Good for you. I would have never worked out. My idea of working out on a vacation is walking, drinking and shopping!!!
