Enjoying lots of running this summer- from races to stroller runs to solo time….all in my favorite Kiava Clothing pieces! From left to right: Striped Shorts // Striped Capri // Geometric Capri
After finishing my last race in July, I’m excited to do one of my favorite 10k races in August…and this time, without a stroller! If you are local, check out the details and join me!
The details:
Gurnee Days Trail Run (5k/10k), hosted by the Gurnee Rotary Club
When: Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:30am
Where: Warren High School- O’Plaine Campus, 500 N. O’Plaine Road, Gurnee, IL
Cost (before August 6th):
5k: $20 // 10k: $25
Race day registration is also available 6:15am – 6:45am at Warren Township High School.
To register: Register here. For info on all the Gurnee Days festivities, visit here.
What I like about the race:
1) Gorgeous, mostly flat (YES!) out and back race. 10k is USATF certified course covering part of the Des Plaines River Trail on crushed limestone. Great scenery!
2) Smaller race, which means no overcrowded trails and wasting your energy dodging in and out of the crowds. Plus, they start the 10kers at 7:30, then the 5kers at 7:35 (it’s a major pet peeve of mine when everyone starts at once.) Competitive race with awards three deep. Participants can walk the 5k, but need to finished by 9am. No strollers since it’s an out and back to avoid injuries.
3) A bountiful assortment of food and refreshments. YUM.
4) Great price for a local, certified 10k race. And affordable 5k too! Plus, you get sweet shirt!
Join me for this one?! If not, what’s the next race on your calendar?
