The first snow of the season hit this past weekend. And when I say hit, I mean over a foot of snow was dumped over the northern Chicago suburbs. Well, hellllo winter! The deck where I once stood for these photos is now buried under snow, and I miss that green grass already. And wearing sandals. And running outside without layers. Wa waaaa. But I do have to say, seeing the sun shine on fresh snow covered trees is gorgeous. And it means the holidays are coming, which I am so excited for.
Anyways, back to the outfit. Yes, these photos were taken a little while ago, but I’m just getting around to blogging it since life got a little busy. That said, I was long overdue to get some new jeans that actually fit decently post baby, and these Halogen Distressed Girlfriend Jeans from Nordstrom did the trick. They are a looser fit (much like boyfriend jeans) but sit below the waist and are just a little fitted. They are super comfy, offer a very relaxed fit and still flatter the shape without being skin tight. But definitely size down one (possibly two) sizes! They run big and luckily, Nordstrom offers free returns & exchanges- phew. I wore this outfit to the zoo with T and Bryce just last month…when the temps were up in the 70s. The vest makes for a zookeeper-esque look, no? Gotta dress the part :-)
Have you tried girlfriend jeans? What’s your verdict?

I always struggle to find new jeans but these look super comfy.
We got about 7 inches of snow… wasn’t ready for winter yet!
They really are comfy…next best to workout pants, let’s be honest :-)
We got snow dumped on us too! It’s kind of nice though going into the holiday season! Love this olive green vest and patterned shirt together. And the sandals are too cute!

Despite over a foot of snow, it was already melted by the time Thanksgiving hit. Hopefully we get a fresh dusting to ring in December :-)
You know I LOVE this weather! I had no idea girlfriend jeans existed (since I live in scrubs and workout clothes anymore), but I will definitely keep an eye out next time I’m out!
They are relaxed yet fitted- better than the baggy boyfriend jeans to me! Now that I work from home, all I wear is workout clothes so wearing jeans is considered “dressing up” for me. Oh how times have changed haha!
I have tried boyfriend jeans and they just don’t work on me, but maybe a more fitted pair like these would be better! Very cute on you!
That was my thought exactly! Thanks Laura!
I’ve never tried girlfriend jeans before, I’ll definitely will have to check them out! Happy holidays!!
They are a great alternative to the baggier boyfriend jeans…good luck!
