Inspiration photo: I do deClaire
When I saw Laura’s outfit featuring lots of cozy layers, I knew I had to recreate it using items in my own closet given polar vortex #2 we are experiencing in Chicago. (Don’t worry, I do have pantyhose on, but the black tights or leggings would have been a much warmer choice!) Anything that involves tall boots, scarves and layers is a great option for winter in my book.
I love the pops of cognac in the boots, belt and scarf. Plus, the layering of the belt over the cardigan defines the waist!
Shop the look:
Dress: Old Navy (option, option, $$ option)
Cardigan: Target
Scarf: Old Navy (option) Or you can enter to win one from Bri at Work Clothes, I Suppose. She is giving away one for her two year blogoversary!
Belt: Target
Boots: Aldo
What are your winter must haves?
Personally, I’m on the hunt for the quintessential Chicago coat: The North Face Metropolis parka. I’ve decided this is the item I want (or actually need) for my one-item-a-month clothing resolution.
I love the length and heard it keeps you pretty toasty, but I don’t want to pay full price.
Any ideas on where I can find a good deal on a gently used one? Otherwise, to eBay I go!

You look super cute! Thanks for the shout out! I am loving that dress!
Thank you Laura for the inspiration!! Loved it so much I had to recreate it! :-)
Hi Valerie, I have stopped by here before, I hope you remember. I loved that Outfit on Laura and now I am loving it on you. I also really like your 1-item a month resolution. North Face makes great, warm parka coats.
I hope you stop by my blog as well and like my style. You’re a Midwestern girl after my heart. I’d like us to follow each-other.
Thank you for linking up with us, also.
Happy Wednesday! Ada. =)
This is such a cute look! You look great in red!
You always make that dress look amazing!
Also, unless you get super lucky at a thrift store (Suburban Style Challenge actually has a Savers giveaway going on right now) I think you’re going to have to check ebay. Or maybe Craigslist!
Love the combo!

come pay me a visit :)
I love this outfit, I loved it when Laura wore it, and I loved it when Fran wore it originally. You look beautiful :)
Love the mix of colors and patterns here – it totally works! You and Laura both look fab!
Love this and I have all the pieces except a red cardigan. I can’t do many shades of red by my face, but I could try another bright contrasting color. I keep meaning to buy a bold or bright colored cardigan but can’t ever decide on a color! I need to just grab one blindly and run with it.

I’ve been rocking tights under pants this winter, along with my new asymmetrical puffer coat and a huge scarf! Is it spring yet?

Love the pairing of stripes and leopard with the red cardigan! You and Laura both really made it your own!

Love the stripes. Love the leopard. Love the red. Oh my gosh, this is beyond perfection. I might end up copying both of you (Credit to be given of course)!
I think I have this outfit pinned from when Fran wore something super similar – with the exact same dress (I have it too!) :) I really need to recreate it myself soon, because it is just too cute not to! :)
