Height:

1 month: 21 inches
2 months: 22 inches
4 months: 24 inches
6 months: 26 1/4 inches
Diaper: Size 2, but definitely headed into 3 now!
Clothes: 6 months, although his sleepers are getting a little snug now! Finally packed up his newborn and 3 month items and put them in vacuum sealed Ziploc bags- takes up way less space that way. Kinda sad though…he is growing so fast!
Eating:
At exactly 24 weeks, I used up all my freezer stash (plus what I pump daily), so we are mixing in some formula into bottles. Still pumping 4x day at this point. He also gets 2 tbs of rice cereal/oatmeal mixed with milk, twice a day since 4.5 months or so.
Moving forward, we are going to do three meals a day and start incorporating fruits, veggies and meat in addition to his bottles. In fact, we tried solids (beyond rice cereal and oatmeal) right after his 6 month appointment! Started with carrots…it was messy and hilarious to see him react to a new taste/texture! I plan to make his food and freeze some to have on hand. Mommas- any tips/tricks? I’m all ears!
Sleeping: Wonderfully through the night- thank goodness! He also takes two naps during the day- mid morning and early afternoon, although they aren’t terribly long.
The Highlights:
-Started sitting unassisted on his own around 21-22 weeks. Now, he is sitting really well and is starting to scooch on his butt- watch out!
-9/15: rolled from belly to back…very intentional, and rolled over several times the next day! These days, he isn’t rolling all that much but loves just being on his belly (even picking up his knees to put his butt in the air) and also sitting up. Doc said he probably just isn’t into rolling (and sitting takes way more muscles to accomplish, so good to know he isn’t behind developmentally.) When he is on the ground, he pivots himself and turns direction on his tummy, talk about moving with intention!
-Developed a little eczema on the side of his cheek. He itches at it and it never seems to get better so the doc suggested Dove unscented soap for bathing, Eucerin or Aquaphor (which we’ve been using for a few weeks) and 1% hydrocortisone cream twice a day to help with the itching. Moving to daily baths instead of every other day and definitely using fragrance free detergent and 100% cotton clothes and blankets as much as possible!
-Loves to read books. He purposefully tries to turn the pages with great concentration- furrowed brow, tongue out. Adorable.
-Lots of belly laughs. Like legitimate laughing. And smiles for days! His smile, though. He does it with his whole face and it melts my heart every single time. Can’t get enough! Plenty of babble too, I could listen to it all day!
-No paci (none for the past few months, actually.) He just doesn’t seem to care for it, which is fine by me!
-9/24: intentionally lifted hand to wave hello during Little Listeners class at the library and continues to as we sing the hello song or wave to him. Incredible!
-Week of Sept 28: used transition swaddle Love to Dream Swaddle UP 50/50…supposed to take 3 nights with 1 arm out, 1st night: woke up a few times, 2nd night- slept through the night like normal. That thing is amazing.
-Loves touching his toes, and interacting more with water when poured over him during baths. Also loves toys with mucic and lights.
-Growls. Yes, my kid growls. When he’s hungry or bored- that’s just his way to show frustration.
-We went to the zoo recently and he loved the aquarium with fish, sharks, stingrays, etc. He tracked everything SO well and was completely captivated. Worth the trip just for that!
-He is starting to outgrow his infant tub that we put in our kitchen sink, so we are moving him to the bath tub, using the ol laundry basket in the tub trick!
I feel like this update has a ton going on (hope I captured it all, because I feel like something noteworthy happens every day)! But it’s true- he’s definitely growing not only physically, but is really coming into his own personality too. I see what people mean when they say they grow fast. It’s crazy and going way too fast. My sweet little baby is officially 6 months…and I am turning the big 3-0 later this week. YIKES!

Love the updates! Such a cute little guy. Can’t believe 6 months has gone by!
I love that you love them! :-) Good thing he enjoys smiling!
Wow! He really grew between 4 and 6 months! Love reading all the updates!
BIG time growth! It was incredible– that’s when we added in rice cereal and more ounces in his bottles–what a huge difference!
Wow, so many milestones this month!
I feel like this month so much has gone on (that or I did a better job documenting it!) Has Baby Buel made his appearance yet?!
You are so good about taking the weekly shots! I can barely remember to take the monthly ones – whoops! I’ve been making Dean’s food and all I do is steam the veggies (that’s all we’re doing so far) and then put them in a little food processor until they’re smooth. I have added in some of the steaming water if the paste seems too dry.
I think weekly has become a habit/part of my routine, otherwise- I’d have to write it down each month for sure! What veggies have you tried? So far we’ve done carrots and sweet potatoes!
If you freeze veggies prepare for them to be pure liquid when they defrost! I wound up only freezing fruits because the veggies were too liquidy. We did add rice cereal to them and it took care of it but was more of a mess. I tried to make 90% of little mans food for awhile and I loved it.
Yeah so far the carrots were pretty watery once they thawed out. Sweet potatoes are a bit better though. It’s kind of fun to make this stuff though!
