The Highlights:
-Literally the day I posted Bryce’s 2 month update, he rolled over for the first time! On July 17th (13 weeks), he rolled over twice in the morning when I put him down for tummy time. I tried to get video, but he was done. I excitedly called T and texted my parents…it made my day! Not too much rolling since then, though. Lots of kicking, however- especially when he is on his back, he just goes crazy. Future soccer player perhaps?!
-We are noticing that he is interacting with toys a lot more this past month. He will reach for them and hang onto them. He loves mirrors, sounds (Baby Einstein toy), and his ball and crinkly toys, and will focus more on books when we read to him. Definitely more developmental milestones in this month compared to last!
-Little guy is definitely starting to teethe. All the tell-tale signs: drool, putting everything in his mouth, fussiness, you name it. Not really a fan of his soothie pacifier these days though.
-The drool. Oooh the drool! An overabundance this past month for sure…the burp cloths have been in the laundry and an constant rotation
-Bryce is noticing his hands so much more. For instance, he will reach out and try to hold his bottle. Such a big boy!
-PT update: Bryce is improving with his torticollis and we are down to visits every two weeks now as opposed to once a week. Lots of tilt and rotation exercises (some of which he doesn’t like) and sidelaying, tummy time and supported sitting. Next up is trying to work on the small flat spot on his head!
-Loves to play peek-a-boo with Mommy & Daddy and both sets of Grandparents (and heck- really anyone else!) When he is being held he will look out to the person, then get all bashful and “hide” back in my chest and nuzzle. Then, he will turn his head back out to peak and smile, and turn back it. It’s ADORABLE!
-He really is loving his baths. It’s easier to see how big is he getting when we put him in his 4Moms bathtub. Pretty soon, we will have to transition him to the regular tub- ahhh!
-We went to the Wisconsin State Fair over the weekend and put Bryce in his stroller front-facing without the car seat attachment and it went really well! He definitely looked like a big boy when we did that!
-Still loves being held (especially being held and swaying or moving around), and is fascinated by the TV screen with all the colors and motion.
Eating: Still eating 4-5 ounces six times per day. At his checkup, we were hoping he had put on more weight than he had, so we got the ok to start giving him rice cereal once in the morning (after his first bottle) and once at dinner time. We tried it for the first time last night (mixed with breast milk) and it was SO.MUCH.FUN. A little messy at first, but he was a champ after he got the hang of it! Even reached for the spoon to attempt to hold it. I could tell he was trying to say, “Mom, I’ve got this!”
Sleeping: Still sleeping like a champ through the night. We put him down in his crib all swaddled up in his Halo Sleep Sack around 9:15 and he will wake up anywhere between 6 and 6:30. I try to do my first pump session before he wakes up to get ahead of the game, and luckily if he is awake, he will just sit quietly in his crib, looking around like a little sweetheart. When I walk in and he sees me, he always gives me a HUGE smile and it melts my heart. Every time. Never gets old. Naps are a little hit and miss still. Small cat naps here and there with a longer one (or two) depending on the day, although if we have to run an errand and drive anywhere over 5 minutes, he will snooze.
So, my little Bryce boy, you light up my life like none other. Being your momma? It makes me feel more “me” than anything ever has before. I couldn’t be more thankful for my little love, and I have a feeling that it’s going to keep getting better!
Wow, I can’t believe he’s already eating cereal! What a big boy!
He really is- I can’t believe how fast it goes- you’ll blink and then they grow another inch, I swear!
Teeth are the devil!!! One of my favorite things we got when little man was teething was Sophie the Giraffe. Everyone complains about how expensive it is but it was such a great thing to take around with us during chewy times!
It’s awful! But we got Sophie and he isn’t totally in love with her yet…hope he does- that thing is expensive haha!
Wow! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but they grow up so fast!! I love hearing about this progression!
Thanks for reading along- glad you enjoy it! The saying is so cliché, but so true!
I am shocked he will sit there after waking up. I remember Claire crying the moment she woke up and wanting a bottle. Probably one of the reasons she was always in the 80% for weight! Haha!
I must have jinxed myself…he woke up today and starting fussing haha! Can’t win em all I guess! :-)
