Dogs are family, and deserve to be treated as such. And nothing says “I love you” more than something made with love and care like Milo’s Kitchen home-style dog treats from Meijer. Made in the USA with 100% real chicken, beef, duck or sweet potato as the #1 ingredient. Read on to see how we let our toddler show his love by taking an active role in caring for our furry companion.
With Bryce out of the baby stage and in full-fledged toddlerhood, the bond between him and our dog Izzy has really been neat to watch. Right from when we brought Bryce home, Izzy has been so patient with Bryce, and continues to be.
It’s pretty clear to me that these two are great companions…
And they both seem to be motivated by food, tag teaming at meals…
These days as a toddler, Bryce has been such a great “brother” to Izzy, especially now that he can actively take part in some of the responsibility and routines that come with caring for a dog.
For example, Bryce has really took to putting food in Izzy’s dish. Whenever he walks by, he’ll check it out and see if it’s empty and tell me that she needs more food. At mealtimes, Bryce fills a scoop from the dog food bin and carefully walks it over, focused oh-so carefully on holding the scoop with two hands, and dumps it into her dish.
Bryce also enjoys taking walks in the neighborhood with Izzy. He loves to clip Izzy’s leash on her collar and take her on a walk. Izzy weighs 50 pounds, so I use the term “walk” quite loosely as Izzy would realistically be the one walking Bryce. But nevertheless, Izzy is so patient when she knows Bryce has the leash. We take short walks on our street, and Bryce just smiles, brimming with pride.
When we are on our walks, at the park or just playing in the yard, Bryce loves finding sticks to bring her so she can play with them, or picking up one of her toys and bringing it over to her so she has it nearby. Such a caring little boy!
And of course, Bryce loves to give Izzy treats. Simply put- he just loves spoiling that pup…and sometimes for no reason at all (but hey, don’t we all?!)
When it comes to treats, we look for ones that are made with the same quality of ingredients and care that I want with my food. Why? Because dogs are family, and deserve to be treated like it. That’s why we stocked up on Milo’s Kitchen home-style dog treats. They are made in the USA with 100% real chicken, beef, duck or sweet potato as the #1 ingredient and free of artificial flavors or colors.
We got ours at our local Meijer, where they have a wide assortment of flavors and ingredients. And to make it even sweeter, we redeemed the mPerks offer that is valid now through 10/7 for 30% off Milo’s Kitchen home-style dog treats (while supplies last).
Izzy LOVES these. (And trust me, she doesn’t like all treats. There have been some that she has just left on the floor.) But Milo’s Kitchen home-style dog treats? They are soft and hearty, and I feel great knowing I am giving her something that has quality ingredients.
Come on…how can you resist that face?!
Giving Bryce opportunities to take an active role in caring for Izzy, even if they are small, is not only great for Bryce to learn responsibility, but it really strengthens the bond that they have together.
There’s something so special about a boy and his dog, and I’m so glad that Bryce has a great companion in Izzy, and Izzy in him. I’m sure they will be the greatest of friends for a long time to come.
