I’m not much of a NYE girl so I don’t plan on getting all dressed up and heading out (plus, a major snowstorm is coming our way starting tonight). Instead, the hubs and I will enjoy some movies and good food…and realistically, won’t be able to stay awake until midnight (honestly, it was tough staying away to watch SNL with Jimmy Fallon & Justin Timberlake recently.)
In any case, I think sequins are a great way to “snazz up” an outfit! I wore this outfit to work for a holiday party that was off-site. And I got tons of compliments…it’s something about the sequins, I’m convinced. (And FYI- Erin of Loop Looks has some fantastic pointers about when to wear sequins to the office.)
2013 was definitely a fun year! My husband and I did tons of house projects, I kept busy blogging for my first full year, did lots of running, went on a cruise and lots more!
In looking back at my 2013 resolutions, I did pretty decent! I had five resolutions:
1) Blog more!
I definitely nailed this one. I went to a self-hosted platform, had some great partnerships/sponsorships, did lots of link ups and grew my social media platforms. I’d call it a win!
2) Stick to the budget.
I successfully tracked all my clothing spending for 2013! After reviewing my clothing spending from 2012, I drastically cut my spending and set a new limit for myself and stuck to it most of the months! I definitely plan to continue this trend, as this is an area where I tend to go a bit crazy…what can I say?! I love to shop! (Plus, my new closet really helps me see exactly what I have!)
3) Maintain weight (or lose some!)
I lost 30 pounds last year with Weight Watchers and although I don’t do WW anymore, I wanted to remain active and eat healthy. I definitely remained active with lots of races and workouts, but the eating part? Not so much. I blame it on the job I’m up nine pounds since then- wa waaaa! I plan to continue to workout and REALLY focus on healthy, clean eating. More fruits and veggies…less chocolate and sweets.
4) Drink less pop.
I think I did ok the first few months of 2013, then totally fell off the bandwagon. Then in October/November, I cut it out and felt great (plus, my skin was happy about it, too.) I occasionally have a clear pop now and then if I have an upset stomach, but otherwise nada!
5) Run!
See #3. I’d call this a success! I did a “big race” that I trained for, and was super happy with my time and how great I felt! I hope to do another race like this in 2014…maybe a half marathon?!
All in all, 2013 was a great year and I can’t wait to see what 2014 brings!
I plan to keep the same resolutions this year, but also want to:
-read more books/find things that help me de-stress
-spend more quality time with friends and my husband and family
-follow my passions and spend time on things that make me happy!
What are your 2014 resolutions?
Linking up with Style Elixir and Walking in Memphis in High Heels.
Congrats on an awesome 2013 – you should be so proud of all the things you accomplished (even if you’re 9 lbs up…who cares! just think of how much healthier you are!). Hope you guys have just the NYE you want (I’m jealous!)
Thanks Fran– you are so sweet! You’ve had quite the year too- what a rockstar! Best wishes for a SWEET 2014!!
I think we had the same year in terms of coming off a big weight loss, being super active, and still gaining weight. My goal was definitely just to maintain this year, but I know I wasn’t eating as well as I should have. Here’s hoping we can both get back on track next year!
You should totally do a half! You were almost there with F2B, so that should be no problem.
Yeah I’ve always had the workout out part down, but I just each so much crap (mainly sweets…HUGE chocoholic!) Here’s to making changes in 2014!!!
Wow, I guess I never realized you lost 30 lbs. last year!!! I’m so impressed and so inspired by you.
I can’t wait for book club. I’m ready to hang out more- we can do yoga to relax and meet up to stay active and double date with our husbands! Just putting that out there…
Thanks Katie- you are so sweet! I can’t wait for book club either..should be a blast! Taking time to read will be a relaxing experience in itself! I still want to try yoga sometime and we will definitely have to do a double date sometime!
Love this outfit and wish I would have bought that top when I tried it on. Great job with the goals this year, that’s awesome! Happy New Year!
Thanks Ginny! Yeah I remember “waiting it out” till the price dropped on it, but then it was so popular, it was sold out! I found this one on eBay :-) Happy New Year!
Hee hee hee. I have to laugh because I was totally struggling to stay awake for that episode of SNL too! I hope you get to do a HM this year! Because then I can train with you!!! Wisconsin May 3rd? LOL!
No resolutions for me :)
Seriously! I feel so old haha! I am considering the Wisconsin one…mainly because I could train a little bit with you I hope?!? Do you know how much prices go up after the early Jan deadline?
It goes up $6 – to $55. Super affordable race! http://wisconsinmarathon.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=69&Itemid=54
You can totally do a half marathon!! Especially since Kim will always run with you :-)
Also, love the outfit you wore to the work party. Sequins definitely get compliments!
And great job on the rest of your resolutions as well.
Thank you Erin! (And having a running partner for those long runs would DEFINITELY help…I am trying to figure out which one would be best! Are you doing the Wisc Half in May?)
Wow! It sounds like you had an awesome year, and that you’ll have a great one to come as well!
Also, I love what you are wearing. It’s festive without being too over the top. Very cute.
Now following :)
Thanks so much Autumn :-) I love that sequin top…just the right amount of festive! Happy New Year!
